Just another Brit, then :P

Or a victim trapped in the Occupied Territories... ^_^

Gama Bomb are good Newry-based thrash.  But I'll let Hunlord post about them, and most other Irish metal bands... :D

There is a band from Derry called Cradlebay that's quite good ;)

Speaking of Derry, Conor, did you know Amon Amarth played at Sacrifice Festival there last year?  I didn't even know they'd been!  As of next year, I'm going to make a point of going to any metal gig that piques my interest, because I'm missing Mysterious Wounds (Ensiferum, Primal Fear, Sodom) and Blind Guardian in Dublin so I can save for Maiden.  Oh, and to end, DragonForce have announced they're playing Belfast....again.  Don't they have anything better to do, like buggering off on a world tour? ^_^

Well DragonForce have become quite a cult band within the University world, or so I'm told.  They think they are so underground when they have just become one of the most comerrcially flog-all whores recently

As for Amon Amarth, I wasn't into them when they came here but I think it was a few years ago that they came.  Cruachan were support for them.  If only I had known :(

Ireland has become a hot-spot for metal gigs and it's unbelievable what I will be missing this year.  I have already missed DragonForce and Metallica.  I will miss Slayer, Children of Bodom, Motorhead, Blind Guardian (possibly a few others) but at least I'll see my beloved Maiden ;)

When are Motorhead playing?  According to my friend, the support for them last time was so bad that the crowd nearly rioted, and Lemmy came on threatening not to play if they didn't stop throwing bottles... ^_^ ^_^

And its Hunlord to the rescue :p
Gama Bomb are sort of punk thrash along the lines of Nuclear Assault. They take the piss most of the time and sing about zombies, bullet belts and the like, more of a jokey band but some waltz worthy tunes. www.gamabomb.tk
Hexxed are sort of Death-ish, death metal with some melody added in. www.hexxed.co.uk
Give them both a look.

Within the space of a week Motorhead, Vader, Exodus and Slayer will play Dublin in November. I hope you're all saving up....

Hunlord, do you know anywhere that features reliable and consistent information on what upcoming metal events are...ummm, coming up in Ireland?  Tickets.ie has a good selection (inc. Mysterious Wounds), but you always seem to have greater knowledge of what gigs are happening. Or maybe you just listen to the word on the street... :D

Yep metalireland is where I get all my information, unfortunately half of the members are retarded morons. Theres a no tolerance policy on spam or off topic threads which is refreshing but it leads to even more off topic threads asking why their original off topic thread was locked
For all you face melting thrashers out there try these out for size, Ireland's best thrash experience and best band in my opinion, Mass Extinction
(The site isn't finished yet, but it gives you a vague idea about them) Go download Bound In Flesh from the releases page

I'm giving this a listen as I speak. Have to say, it sort of reminds me of Onslaught ("the Force" era). Good stuff. Great vocals, crunching riffs, good all round song.

Not a bad song either, a couple of Sy Keeler type screams there.

Two things mad me chuckle on their MySpace site:

Sounds Like - Dublin Bay Area Thrash ;)
Influences - we play old school 80s thrash: I remember when Led Zep, Purple, Sabbath and the like where old school and Maiden was new. How times change. Still, we move onwards (which is never a bad thing - sometimes).
