New Iron Maiden Tribute out 11/14/06

1. Steel Prophet – Ides of March/Purgatory
2. Ancient Wisdom – Powerslave
3. Vital Remains – The Trooper
4. Angel Corpse – Genghis Khan
5. Solitude Aeturnus – Hallowed Be Thy Name
6. New Eden – Phantom of the Opera
7. Opeth – Remember Tomorrow
8. Morgion – To Tame a Land
9. Evoken – Strange World
10. Opera IX – Rime of the Ancient Mariner
11. Absu – Transylvania

I don't think I would ever buy one. It seems strange to me. However it is a credit to Maiden to have so many tributes.

Like so many previous Maiden tribute albums, I haven't even heard of most of those bands. And there's some (like Steel Prophet) who I've heard of, but never heard their music.

The only band on there I've actually heard is Opeth. And the idea of them covering "Remember Tomorrow" does sound interesting. A good fit of song to band.

Solitude Aeternus doesn't ring a bell? I admit that they didn't release an album since 1998 so that's maybe why. Solitude Aeternus is a classic American doom metal band featuring a great vocalist (a rare thing in metal nowadays). They are still around and after a break a new album should be expected soon.

albums:
1991  Into The Depths Of Sorrow
1992  Beyond The Crimson Horizon
1994  Through The Darkest Hour
1996  Downfall
1998  Adagio
(reviews: http://www.metal-observer.com/articles. ... &l=S  --> find Solitude Aeternus)

Currently, Opeth is the most succesful band of this list. Steel Prophet also had its successes in the past and Absu is one of the biggest American names in black metal.

And indeed, most covers (I guess all) are eight and a half years old !
