New Eddie, Cover Art - a theory [*SPOILERS*]

Invisible

Invader
Hi everyone, I've been following the threads for some time now, I feel great and also curious while joining this fine Maiden forum.

I've been wondering about the "Not Eddie" plot as a background story for the album art and the music video released. The new game shows intriguing elements that might turn out to be clues. Here's a few thoughts I'd like to share:

CD cover:

An alien-like Eddie seems to have removed the key from the panel. Three skulls of not-human intelligent beings. Their ship might have been there for years.

Did they cross the Final Frontier and therefore weren't able to go back? So this version of Eddie is only found when you go past that frontier? Then on "our" side of it, we might still find the "actual" Eddie.

- There is a different set of keys for each of the 6 skulls, which may suggest that the one obtained by Eddie is not the only key afterall.

- The skulls may clearly be in reference to the 6 band members, but they don't belong to humans.

"The Final Frontier" video

- We never see Eddie inside his own ship, only his hand. They might have saved his figure for later on, but notice how "Alien Eddie" shows up at the relic room way before the pilot, even after crashing instead of landing. Then he is delayed by a granade but still manages to hide in the pilot's ship. Well, he´s Eddie, he can pull this off... or could this be an entire race of Eddie look-alikes?

- "I had something to put to bed back there". The pilot also says he is arriving on a planet. "Back there" could be a satellite of the same planet, or Satellite 15, where he battled to obtain the key.

- He blew napalm on something "back there". This would explain Eddie's partially exposed tissues. But he didn't assume Eddie was dead. He wasn't surprised when Eddie's ship attacked him.

- Obviously this looks like the future. If so, then a reincarnation of Eddie is plausible, the band being so much into this subject lyrically.

The Final Frontier game

- Space pirates attacked the ship on its way to an intergalactic gig. Wow! This really brings other forms of life into the story. Could the 3 skulls on the album cover belong to space pirates who had obtained the key? Is Eddie a guardian of the key or keys?

- There is a mothership. Is it too trippy to think of a video for Satellite 15, a song which, according to Steve, sounds like movie theme music? This could show a first and more awesome part of the story.

- The intro shows "El Dorado Eddie" controlling the ship. Could be style, could be a second Eddie.

Other thoughts:

- Eddie may have given birth to another creature on the SSoaSS cover.

- Bruce says the album title was interesting also because they could "go to space for an Eddie"

- Melvyn Grant says "it's not Eddie, it's an alien" and "the old Eddie might still come around".

So what are your thoughts on this?

my thoughts?  Damn, you have some cool imagination there.  What ever it is you're on... I'll take some.  Still, sounds pretty cool in theory, and I like a good scifi story.  Would be cool if they were going somewhere with all this.... but who knows.

Thanks for your post.

Up the Irons!!!  :edmetal:

Very interesting theories :ok:, I seriously hope that Maiden has some kind of bigger plan, story with this new Eddie (or Alien-Eddie)
But what happened to Benjamin Breeg, who is he? Yes, it was great publicity trick, but we still don't know the full story, why did Steve come up with this character, whom does he symbolize and so on

A couple of points here:

1.  The pilot specifically refers to the alien chasing him as Eddie.

2.  The "half burned" look that Eddie gets is because he was struck by lighting in the relic room, not because of the pilots previous napalm endeavors.

It WOULD be kind of cool though if there was another conspiracty around this Eddie, similar to Ben Breeg was with AMOLAD had yet to be released.  I just don't see it happening though.

Thanks for the feedback guys... I see not many are counting on a deeper backstory. But what about this new sleeve image?

A surprising array of Eddie-like creatures...
