new authorised biography

Hello,

Please advise me: What is the best book of Iron Maiden's history? I looked on Amazon but unfortunately I saw that the authorised biography is somewhere from 2004. Is any other good book to reveal Iron Maiden ?

Well there's a misleading title. <_<

I think Run to the Hills is your best bet, despite being outdated.

They revised it a few times, didn't they?
They added new chapters from time to time (ie when a new album was released) but they don't seem to have done much updating of the existing material on the occasions when that happened. The edition I have goes up to Brave New World but still refers to Blaze as the current singer and Fear of the Dark as "the last album they would ever make with Bruce". Steve says in the foreword that "it hasn't been edited in any way, which is how it should be" but I think a bit of tidying up of this sort of thing might actually be a good idea. But we can let them off, these are small points and don't detract from the narrative.

There is at least one edition after the one I have, but I don't really feel the need to rush out to buy each new edition as it is really for the early details that this book is most valuable - the info that just wasn't "out there" at the time in the way it would be now, and wasn't really know until the first edition of the book was published. In fact it is so ground-breaking in that respect that just about everything I've ever read on Maiden elsewhere has drawn on it to some extent.

I'd definitely buy a final update that will effectively wrap up the epic story of their career after they finally retire, in the meantime I'd be happy just to end with the line "THEN THEY JUST GOT ON WITH IT. THE END".

I remember that the last edition that I read had Ed-Hunter Eddie on the front and it was very eye opening as a fan to read at the time. I very much agree with you, that a final edition after they retire that wraps it all up would be nice to have!

I thought it was the most hilarious thing I ever read. -_-

I just remember shaking my head in disappointment to all his obvious glorified violence, drug taking and sexploits.....even though I had the feeling it was all hugely exaggerated.
