Hello. I hope someone is reading this. I'm currently on a schoolbrake witch lasts til the 9th. I really need to get my german grade to be at least "3" which is the first positive grade in estonian grading system. My german teacher told me to do a task about music. So here it is. I wrote the text and translated it with an online translator but I need someone to check them for me. I would really need this!
If someone is doing it, I can only offer my graditude... You can skip the Scorpions text, as I'm not sure I'm going to use it. Here are the original texts:
Scorpions
Style: hard rock/heavy metal
Rudolf Schenker set out to found a band in 1965. Things began to come together in 1969 when Schenker's younger brother Michael and vocalist Klaus Meine joined the band. After Rudolf and Klaus split with Michael and their bass player and drummer, they joined a band called Dawn Road, which consisted of Francis Buchholz (bass), Uli Roth (guitar) and Juergen Rosenthal (drums). Together they decided to call this new band "Scorpions", a name that people would easily remember and understand not only in Germany. The band is well known for its power ballads and the unique voice of Klaus Meine. They've had huge world tours and they have even played in Soviet Union, which in those days was very rear and unusual. These days they are still recording, still touring. They have recorded 20 albums, with one the way this year. Their most memorable songs are: Rock You Like A Hurricane, Still Loving You, Make It Real, The Zoo, Wind Of Change. The current lineup is: Klaus Meine (vocals), Matthias Jabs (guitar), Rudolf Schenker (guitar), Pawel Maciwoda (bass) and James Kottak (drums).
Helloween
Style: speed/heavy/power metal
The history of Helloween begins in 1978, when Kai Hansen (vocals/guitar) and Piet Sielck (vocals/guitar) were playing in a band called Ge nt ry in Hamburg. In 1981, Ge nt ry changes it's name Second Hell, which then features Markus Großkopf on bass and Ingo Schwichtenberg on drums. After Sielck leaves Second Hell, the band is renamed to Iron Fist. In 1982 Michael Weikath, guitarist of the local band Powerfool, tries to lure Kai into his band, but then decides to join Iron Fist instead. In 1984, a small record-company called Noise invites the band to contribute songs to the compilation "Death Metal". Still not satisfied with their outfit, Iron Fist change to Helloween, a name which Ingo Schwichtenberg comes up with, along with the idea to replace the "o" with a pumpkin and to draw pumpkin-projects for specific songs, which later became Helloween trademark. In 1987, during a tour, Kai decides that he can't handle singing and they recruit Ralf Scheepers, who stays only for the tour. Finally they find a 18 year old Michael Kiske. Since then, only 2 original Helloween members are still in the band: Weikath and Grosskopf. Kai Hansen leaves in 1988 stating that he had conflicts with the band. The band's popularity started to fade during the 90's and after releasing 2 huge ablums "The Keeper Of The Seven Keys" part I & II, they come out with 2 albums that turn out to be a failure. In 1995 Ingo Schwichtenberg commits suicide by jumping in front of a subway train. He was a drug addict and a schizophrenic. Helloween make a comeback with "Master of the Rings". They release more albums which put them back on the success map. In 2005, Helloween releases "Keeper of the Seven Keys - The Legacy". The current lineup is: Andreas Deris (vocals), Michael Weikath (guitar), Sascha Gerstner (guitar), Markus Grosskopf (bass), Daniel Loeble (drums). Helloween has released 16 albums.
Grave Digger
Style: speed/heavy/power metal
Grave Digger was started by Chris Boltendahl, Peter Masson, Willi Lackmann and Albert Eckardt. They recorded a song for the compilation album "Rock from Hell" in 1983. A year later, Grave Digger released their debut album "Heavy Metal Breakdown". They released their second album "Witchhunter" in 1985. After this album was completed, Eckardt left the band; he was replaced by C.F. Brank. Thereafter, Peter Masson gave way to Ulve Lulis; in 1987 the band's name was changed to Digger, the name under which they released the album "Stronger Than Ever". This album hardly had anything in common with the earlier music of Grave Digger. It was more an attempt to reach the masses with mainstream rock like that of Bon Jovi or Van Halen. The album flopped, as it wasn't accepted by fans or the masses. As a result, Chris Boltendahl declared, at the end of 1987, the break up of the band. However, the band partially reformed in 1991. Christ Boltendahl and Uwe Lulis, along with two valuable newcomers, Tom Göttlich and Jörg Michael, who had been the drummers for Rage and Running Wild, released a comeback record, "The Reaper". This song returned to the true roots of Grave Digger. The band got back to making what was Grave Digger. Since then, they have used many folk legends to create successful records. Using the legend of king Arthur to make "Excalibur", which is probably their best album, The Wagner's opera "Der Ring des Nibelungen" was made in to "Rheingold". Currently Grave Digger is Chris Boltendahl (vocals), Manni Schmidt (guitar), Jens Becker (bass), Stefan Arnold (drums) and Hans Peter Katzenburg (keyboards). They have released 13 albums.
Blind Guardian
Style: epic speed and now power metal
Blind Guardian (Hansi Kürsch (vocals/bass), Andre Olbrich (back vocals/lead guitar), Marcus Siepen (rhythm guitar), Thomas Stauch(drums)) started in the mid-1980s in Krefelds. Before calling themselves Blind Guardian, the band released two demos under the name Lucifer's Heritage in 1986 and 1987. From the very beginning, Blind Guardian have been inspired by the fictional worlds of J. R. R. Tolkien and other fantasy authors, as well as traditional legends and epics. Over the years, a running theme has developed associating the band members with traveling bards. Blind Guardian's first two albums, "Battalions Of Fear" and "Follow The Blind", were much more in the style of speed metal than their following works. Beginning with their third album "Tales From The Twilight World", Blind Guardian gradually turned to a more sophisticated sound, including vast use of choirs and orchestral arrangements. Blind Guardian's music is characterized by the classic fast guitars and double bass drumming of power metal, but is relatively unique in its use of overdubs to create an extremely dense, "epic" sound. This technique, especially notable in the guitar and vocal tracks, creates the impression of a vast army of musicians playing in unison and singing in harmony. "A Night At The Opera" was a vast driftoff from what was original BG. Maybe that is why Thomas left to create his own band (Savage Circus) which sounds very much like the old BG. Probably because their singer has a very similiar voice to Hansi. His replacement was soon found - a much younger Frederik Ehmke. In 1997, Hansi decided that a different bassist would allow for more complex parts, and allow himself to further his vocal technique both live and in the studio. On Blind Guardian's second and third studio albums, Kai Hansen, formerly of Helloween, performed guest vocals on a few songs and a guest guitar solo. Their most memorable songs are "The Bard's Song - In The Forest", "Mirror Mirror", "Bright Eyes" and many many more.
