MUsic and your car

Hey, from the day I got my first car, to the accuired I got the one I am driving now, I have rocked them all.

I dont do this now, but when I was young dumb and full of *ahem*, I would drive like a bat out of hell. I found that heavy music, playing as loud as the Dr.Cankensteins would let me, greatly influenced the risks I would take while the adrenalin flowed through my body.

I once reached over 160mph in my first Trans-Am, listening to And JUstice For All.

Nothing yet, exept a helicopter pilot with more nerve than I, has brought my endorphin levels up that high.

Feel free to share a story about music and your ride.  B)
please disregard. ------> *accuired I got the* I have kids who are driving me insane at the moment.
And in no way am I advocating doing this, in fact it was really stupid to do, but its my story. Im glad nobody was ever hurt.

I don't listen to music in my car very often anymore. That's because I listen to music the rest of the day, both at work and home. I probably average 12 to 14 hours of music per day, so no music in the car - that's my quiet time.

I so dearly wish to respond to this question in future with "the music of my V12 naturally aspirated Lamborghini Miura". In the meantime, nothing at the moment as I have no car as I won't be able to afford the insurance for one for a few years yet.

Judas Priest's Turbo Lover is a song that kind of sucks in any context EXCEPT on a dark deserted highway, in which case it is awesome.

I am exactly the opposite -- between work and family, the car is often the only place where I can actually listen to music uninterrupted.

Same here, I'm more likely to listen to music while driving.  I had a nice system in my Jeep, but the system left with it.  The little Saturn I have now just has no power, sound or engine wise.  However, I'm looking to install something with a little thump to it.  Its always nicer to drive to something with volume.

I have tried to listen to tunes on my bike, but that never works (and is not legal, if I'm not mistaken).

Priest is a great band for driving. Their atmospheric "Blood Red Skies" is very fitting when driving under a darkening sky.

One of the coolest car/metal experiences for me was Iced Earth's Night of the Stormrider.

Ah, driving and music.  Transcendent!  Sometimes everything sucks except the opportunity to drive and blast tunes.

Right now, most of my driving is to and from work.  I live in Los Angeles, not from here though originally and not staying either, but my commute is 21 miles one way (short for here) and compounded by traffic even at nine o'clock at night (I work graveyard shift with Wednesday/Thursday off).  So it's Maiden all right, from start to finish, albums evenly divided between trips home and to work, with me playing the 'louder' albums on the way home to keep awake.  On my Friday, for instance, I will usually play AMOLAD in its entirety, which takes the whole round trip.

It's a different experience from doing yoga at home to Brave New World. ;)  I've gotten back into Maiden in the past year after twenty years away, so I don't take for granted one moment alone with their music.  It's been a nice trip in itself getting back into them.

I like listening to various kind of cds when driving. At the moment I'm much into Motörhead (for heavy rock) and Justin Adams & Juldeh camara (for ethno blues rock). I almost listen to the latter act every day since 2007
Listening to Motörhead and the likes often lead to speed excesses...but it's so enjoyable!
