very intense and this is just the first wave of annoncements
I wonder what is the mean capacity of the venues ...15.000 ?

Since I'm completely out of the Metallica loop, does anyone know whether there's a European tour being planned?  I know this is sort of breaking the forum rules ("do you know when they're coming to South Ossetia??") but I was wondering whether such a tour would be common knowledge that I have missed?  Or is it completely unrumoured and unannounced so far?

I was wondering the same thing...

breaking the rules ?? how's that ?

Metallica just announced these dates earlier today (US time, that's yesterday for you Europeans). So they've just begun announcing dates.

I'd expect a European tour at some point, but you'll just have to wait for the announcement.

Well, at least people who asked "is Maiden coming to X country" before the last tour, they were ridiculed (and banned?  I don't remember) by the mods, so I assumed it was against forum rules.

No mate, this is different. If people ask "are Maiden coming to x country" if all tour dates are already announced or no tour is planned at all is just something very annoying. You probably haven't been a member here for this long, but in the past, it was just fucking annoying, and some people posted asking about a US tour right after the last one ended. What you're doing is OK.

Just heard that the entire band of Metallica is gonna be on Bruce's show, the 19th of Sept.

It appears that Metallica is doing a very, very cool thing for its tour.  From what I understand, if you buy a ticket to a concert, they give you a code you can enter on their official website to download (for free, I believe) an audio recording of the very show you attended.  See this link:  http://www.livemetallica.com/

Wow, that's awesome.  I'm not a bootleg collector but I always like to hear recordings from the same gig that I went to, and unfortunately the only place where I can get those is from bad Youtube videos.  That download thing would be seriously cool.
