I want to find a good band that has lyrics in Spanish or similar languages and plays heavy, power, thrash, melodeath or folk metal.

I love Spanish language. I watched a lot of TV series with Spanish or similar language, and I can pretty much understand what people are saying without reading the subtitles. Unfortunately, I never had time to learn it properly, but I'm planning to go on a course when I finish with some English courses (in 2-3 years).

I'll start with Tierra Santa 'cause I heard that they are often called Spanish Iron Maiden. Any more suggestions?

The more mainstream are

Rata Blanca (Argentina):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgYhTMkOU-o

Mago de Oz (Spain): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfrbtWKg5bI

Tierra Santa (Spain): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BrX5vTEe6o

Rata Blanca are pretty NWOBHM in sound. Mago de oz... think of Yes, Jetrho Tull, Kansas and Iron Maiden rolled into one. Tierra Santa started out as a blatant Iron Maiden Clone, but found their own sound in later albums... AMAZING band. I've lost touch of other Spanish bands since I moved to the US a decade ago, but Saratoga is another. I'm sure there are more, just not aware of them.

From Rata Blanca start with their album, Magos, Espadas y Rosas. With Mago de Oz is best to start with Their mindblowing double album Finisterra, though most of their stuff is good. Tierra Santa.... man so many great songs throughout their albums. If you can find their 10th anniversary Greatest Hits album, start with that, if not, Indomable, Tierras de Leyenda or Legendario, any of those are a good start.

No problem. I know more Rock 'n' Roll/Hard Rock bands than Metal that sing in Spanish. Outside of Spain, Brazil and Argentina, not many spanish-speaking countries produce Spanish singing Metal bands. Sepultura (Brazil), Angra (Brazil), Dark Moor (Spain), all sing in English.

Best Tierra Santa albums imo:

Sangre de Reyes (2001)
Indomable (2003)

I'd avoid later albums, I think they're less good.

Favourite old song: "Dracula". Simple, but great gallopping groove and I love the screaming solos. Love that chorus. Play it on ten Night Prowler!  :shred:

Live version. Check it out, the singer also plays guitar (and first solo).

My favourite later TS song: Azote de Dios (live version).
Fantastic melodies.

Didn't Bruce Dickinson record one of his songs in spanish?

I have Yankee Rose in spanish, I know it better than the English version.

Tierra Santa's Sangre de Reyes (2001) album. I'd say probably their best and most consistent album. Check it out if you like melodic (Maidenish) guitar infested metal with catchy choruses! :shred::shred:
