Megadeth working on a new album! Release date CONFIRMED!

Travis The Dragon

AFTERGLOW!!!
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine revealed during an online chat with members of the band's official fan club, Cyber Army (formerly MegaFanClub), that MEGADETH has "five songs almost finished" for its next studio album. Mustaine is currently going over the new material at the band's Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California with engineer Ken Eisennagel, who previously worked with MEGADETH during the pre-production phase for 2009's "Endgame" and 2007's "United Abominations" CDs.

Re: Megadeth working on a new album! 5 songs finished so far.

Just a few months ago, I read an interview in which Dave said he has no interest in recording anymore.

Good news, though surprisingly soon.  Endgame came out only a year ago.

I still haven't heard the most recent album; how does 'Endgame' compare?

"Endgame" is great.  I remember Dave saying that after this upcoming new album he was going to retire.  I sure hope that's not the case!  :(

Wohoho these are great news!!!!
Endgame was great - Sudden Death was GREAT!!!!
I can't wait for that one!  :edmetal:

I highly suggest you try it out, it's a really great album.  Certainly better than Metallica's or Slayer's most recent efforts, or United Abominations and The System Has Failed (all of which I enjoyed, though).  For old-school speed, try Dialectic Chaos/This Day We Fight (the former being essentially an intro), Bite the Hand, 1,320" or Headcrusher, all solid thrash tracks.  Countdown-style melodic songs would be 44 Minutes, Bodies, The Right to Go Insane, and The Hardest Part of Letting Go.  Then there's a few more typical of modern Megadeth, How the Story Ends and Endgame.

Musically, it's up there with their very best. I particularly like 44 Minutes. Lyrically, it's crap, but that was to be expected. So yeah, it's a great Megadeth album that is well worth getting.

Their last album was pretty good, I hope they'll get better.

They haven't even done a UK tour for 'Endgame'. :(

Almost the same here.  We got lousy festival headlining where they played one song from the new album, and 6 from Rust in Peace.  It was more like the 20-year tour for Rust in Peace than the tour for Endgame.  I know how North Americans must feel for Maiden's TFF tour. :(

Re: Megadeth working on a new album! 5 songs finished so far.

Since it's my most favorite Megadeth album, I didn't complain at all about seeing them doing all of RIP. Same with Slayer since Seasons is one of my favorites as well. And at least they tour here often enough and play enough locations to give everyone a fair chance to see them.

Megadeth's new album should be great!  I can't wait.  Next year should be a good year for music.  :yey:

um... that's probably what it was since they did a 20 year RIP tour here in the states...

Well, as I understood it they played the whole album in the States, so this was rather half-arsed.  I'd rather have heard the whole album or then more new songs instead.

You missed a treat!  Hearing rarities like 'Lucretia', 'Five Magics' and the amazing 'Take No Prisoners' was awesome.

I heard Five Magics at my show, which was definitely cool, and I heard Take No Prisoners in 2008. :)  But hearing the whole album in full would have been even better, it's possibly my favourite non-Maiden album ever.

They could have dropped Skin o' My Teeth, Angry Again, Sweating Bullets, and Trust and replaced those with the rest of the album.  These more poppy songs didn't even go well with the audience, whereas the faster stuff would definitely have gone down well (it was an extreme metal festival).
