Pretty simple: anyone can post a move. When you do that, you join the team for that color, and you can only move for your team.
I'll post a board diagram after every move, which means I will be editing your posts, but only to add the diagram.

You don't have to wait for me to post the board. If you know what move you want, you guys can keep posting moves. I'll catch up with the diagrams when I can.

How to post a move: The columns are named for the letters a-h, going from left to right. The rows are numbered from 1-8, from the bottom up. So the lower left corner is a1, and the top right corner is h8.
Just post the square you're moving from and to. My pawn move would be posted as "e2 to e4".

Game #2
White: SMX
Black: Eddie's Wingman
Opening: Sicilian Defense, Scheveningen Variation [B84]

Move history, from an old SMX game leading to start position: 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. Be2 e6 7. O-O Be7 8. f4 O-O 9. Kh1 b5 10. a3 Bb7 11. Bf3 e5 12. Nde2 Nbd7 13. b4 Bc6 14. f5 a5 15. bxa5 Rxa5 16. Bd2 Nc5 17. Nd5 Ra8 18. Nxf6+ Bxf6 19. Nc3 Na4 20. Nxa4 Rxa4 21. Bb4 Be7 22. Rc1 Ra6 23. c3
SMX played Black in the original game, up to this point, and won. SMX is now playing White from this position.

And our game starts here with the Wingman: 23 ... Bg5 24. Ra1 Bd7 25. Qd3 g6 26. Bg4 Qb6 27. Rfe1

Current position:

What ass-whoopage.  I've pondered this for a while and no matter what I choose, I waste another move.  A long time has passed since I last played, and it shows.  I forgot why queens should not be developed early; now I remember.  :)  If it is all the same with you, I'd like to forfeit this game.  Let someone else have a chance with you and I'll pick up another game later.

Sure. After all, chess is only a game - no reason to torture yourself through a bad game.

Wingman or no5, are you up for a game? Or anyone else?

Also, I'm willing to bet I'm the best chess-player on this forum. I'm not saying it to brag - it's merely a fact to deal with. Perhaps there are some ways to level the playing field...

Let's try this. Here's a position from an old game of mine. I played Black and won (against a good player) - this time I'll play White.
So you start as Black with a position I won from, and that should give you a fair chance.
I put this position into my chess program, and the grandmaster-strength analysis engine rated this position as dead even.

Black to move, if anyone wants to step up to the plate...

I'm thinking now ... but I haven't played a game in over a year.

Just out of curiosity: Do you agree with the analysis program which says the position is dead even? I don't know much theory, but I see that both sides have lost exactly the same material (two pawns and two knights) and I don't see any obvious "holes" in either side's structure.

I'll have more time to think of a move tonight  :D

Yeah, it's pretty even. I like White just a hair better, but (like I said above) I won this game from Black's position.
Also, my win as Black didn't come from this position directly. It was 20 moves later, and it happened because White screwed up and I took advantage.

I'll move later tonight. Need to chill right now (it was a hard day at work).

Well, it seems we're both pursuing plans different from the original. You took the bishop I just moved, and put it somewhere else. Ya know, there was a good reason for it being there... :innocent:

But now I've got to move the rook which the original White player had recently moved to c1. No problem, I need to move a few of his pieces to assemble an attack anyway. :ninja:

Alright Wingman, you got that dark-square bishop active now, what you gonna do with it? Damn shame all my kingside pieces are on light square, huh?
