Maiden Studio Albums Released Closest To Your Birthday

I was born about three weeks before Maiden were formed.

I've never understood how Steve Harris formed Iron Maiden on Christmas Day 1975. Did he ring his mates and ask them to be in his new band? Or was he round his nan's place after Christmas lunch doodling band names on a napkin?

Anyway, I was born about 11 months before then.

Here's what the official biography says: "Starting again from the scratch but using the East End contacts he had built up in Smiler to help him, Steve spent the latter weeks of 1975 putting together what would become the first-ever line-up of Iron Maiden. Formed on Christmas Day 1975, the original band was in fact Steve (bass), Dave Sullivan (guitar), Ron "Rebel" Matthews (drums), Paul Day (vocals) and Terry Rance (guitar)." (P. 26-7)
So I suppose that Christmas Day was the first time they all got together as a band and rehearsed.

Thanks for that. Still seems like an odd day to have a rehearsal. I can understand one or two people having nothing better to do on Christmas Day, but five?!

Now, in my fury where I have closed two other threads this morning for being extraneous and pointless, I am curious if I am over-reacting to say this is also unnecessary. I also have no interest in figuring it out on my own.
Why close threads for being (in your opinion) pointless ? I think this thread is trivial, but there is a place for trivial banter. A fair few people have replied. It's inoffensive, just a bit of chat. Most conversations (in real life) are pointless, if you over analyze. Pointless chat keeps places like this ticking over. Otherwise nobody (including yourself) would have replied to it. Not trying to rock the boat here. Just don't get why you would delete something because you don't like it. If nobody else likes it, it will die a natural death.

I have always understood that Christmas day was the day that Steve decided on the name Iron Maiden. Either way, smells a little bit of a romantic fairy tail....

I seem to recall those threads needed closing, but that was some time ago, yeah? So I dunno why exactly.

You're right that in real life most conversation is pointless, but there's a limit. Keeping good order is important on a forum. We're pretty good about such things, usually, but I believe I essentially closed about 3 topics that were very similar, overlapping, or spam.
