Maiden Say No To Glastonbury

I saw them at Reading '05, another non-metal festival but a lot rockier and beerier than Glasto. Bruce did a spiel to the curious non-metallers in the crowd, saying "Listen to this one, it's what metal's all about. If you don't like this one, you might as well go back to your tents for the rest" or similar. Then they played Phantom. I thought it was a good way of handling a mixed crowd.

So it wasn't only in Gothenburg he had a rant of that kind before Phantom! Question to the knowledgeable members of the forum; did he have a similarly themed rant/speech before Phantom on every show of the Early Days tour?

I saw the Clive Aid gig at Hammersmith at the end of that tour. As it was a venue packed to the rafters with rabid Maiden fans, there was no need for the Phantom rant!

I wouldn't have called it a rant so much as an intro, but I recall on the Early Days tour he said "This song is what Iron Maiden is about, if you don't get this song, you shouldn't listen to Iron Maiden" or similar.

My thoughts. Money saved.
You probably wouldn''t get a ticket anyway! All the "trendies and wanabees" snap them up before they even know who's going to be playing there.

They don't care who they see, they just want to be "seen" attending it. This is what really sticks in the throat with Metallica, probabaly only the 3rd or 4th time they've played here in 5 years and that chose to play there - yeah thanks a lot!
