Maiden fans...the best?

I recently attended my first ever Maiden concert in Bristow VA on July 20th.  It was an amazing experience.  But the one thing I didn't expect was how phenomenal all the fans were.  Where i'm from, i'm the only one, besides my wife now, who listens to Iron Maiden.  As big as they are, they seem almost underground to me.  And here I was among thousands of other fans, and everyone was totally cool.  There was no pushing, or shoving, or other typical concert behavior.  I was able and comfortable enough to just walk up to random fans and start talking to them.  As Maiden fans...are we truly the best fans in the world or what?

Yes. The smartest, intelligent metal fans are Maiden fans. The stupid ones are Manowar fans.  B)

What I love about Iron Maiden is that since I was a child and following the band non stopping over the years is that, even being the greatest musical entity I've ever met and with the most loyal fan base, they're still my little secret and they never ever disappointed me. Even cooler is to know that to most they're still their little secret, too.

UP THE IRONS!!! ALWAYS... :edmetal:

Excuse my childish remarks in the previous post, lol. To be perfectly honest, Maiden fans are truly the best fans. When I saw them at MSG, I was at front row... and even though I was surrounded by people I didn't know, I felt like they were all my brothers and sisters... We threw our hands in the air and sang Maiden songs together, and it was an amazing time. I don't know, it just ain't the same at other shows.

I saw Iron Maiden live a few years back.  On my way to the venue @ Selma, TX, I stopped at a gas station and there was a gentleman on the way to the same show, wearing an Iron Maiden cape.

Enough said.

Really though, I'm glad at what I just read because I always kind of considered myself blessed for being into the band as much as I am.  Many people only see Maiden as the guys who do The Trooper, and # of the Beast and whatnot.. I get a big ego rush when people say Iron Maiden are evil and satanic, and I have to explain how most of their music is being sung as a story and typically has very little to do with a set point of view.  Look at For the Greater Good of God next to The Sign of the Cross..Both songs about religion, but both with completely different points of view.

Very proud to be a fan!

I remember when I was a freshman, there was a senior who was apparently a Maiden fan and every time he saw me in a Maiden shirt in the halls he would yell "MAIDEN!!!"

I went to the Somewhere Back in Time tour from a couple of years ago now, and I must say it was the best behaved concert I've ever been to. All the fans were just rocking out having a good time, there were no punch ups, no misbehaving, no nothing. Everyone was just rocking out to some awesome songs  :rocker:

i have a maiden shirt for each day of the week and people who don't know my name refer to me as "the guy with the iron maiden shirt" or "the guy with the shirt with some zombie thing tearing apart an airplane" very rarely do i run into someone who knows who that zombie is

Yes we are the coolest and most intelligent  :P but when I saw them June 19th, the audience was kind of dead. The people who were the most into it were the people in the front row, some guys in front of our V.I.P. Box moshing, and me, of course  ;) The people behind me were enjoying the show, obviously, but they don't seem to headbang, go crazy, or have fun as much as they should. Seriously, you paid money to get into the concert, can't you have fun? If not, give those loge seats up to the real fans!

^I was at that concert too and they were a little dead but I swear they treated you like you were their best friend. A guy in front of me turned around and offered me a beer right in front of my parents (I'm sixteen). XD But the guy that set himself on fire and ran around in circles really crossed the line. . .

I saw the Somewhere Back in Time show as well, the coolest moshpit ever was there:  A couple hispanic fellows organized a mosh pit for their kids (maybe 8-12 years old) and other kids joined in, becoming probably around 20-30 strong.  I hate kids, dont get me wrong, but seeing the whole spirit of the concert captured in that moment was pretty special

Haha great concert nonetheless. The rest of my family are casual Maiden fans, so they were bummed when Maiden didn't play Run to the Hills, The Trooper, etc.  :P I admit though, it kind of sucked to not hear the The Trooper. Such an amazing live song. But still, probably the best concert I've seen, we had great seats and the performance was amazing, as usual. How was your concert experience, Moonchild?

I've been a huge Maiden fan for the last several years now, and during my senior year in high school, I was always wearing an Iron Maiden shirt (I had probably a dozen at the time, which was almost two years ago... now I have around 20 i'd say)

But anyways, people got so used to it that i became "the iron maiden guy" by everybody, something I am very proud haha

There were even kids I'd never seen or talked to before that would see me in the hallway or in class and go "What's up Iron Maiden!?" It was awesome

But yes, Iron Maiden fans are the greatest. When I went to SBIT in 2008 (Chicago) the crowd was just amazing. I may only be 20 years old, but i have been to A LOT of concerts so far in my life. It may just be because they are my favorite band, so I am biased, but either way the crowd was the greatest crowd I've ever seen (even better this tour in 2010, again in Chicago). After SBIT 2008 we had to stop at a gas station to fill up for the drive home (I am from St Louis), I saw a guy wearing an Iron Maiden shirt in the store. As soon as we saw each other we asked we asked each other what we thought of the concert, etc... and then we said "Up the irons!" and the clerk was looking at us like we were stupid or something. lol

When I'm not at work (thus requiring my work clothes), I am always wearing an Iron Maiden shirt. People can think whatever they want, or give me any shit they want. I am proud to wear the shirts hehe

I saw 5 shows this tour and at every single one we met up with super cool folks just looking to have a good time.  Beers and hot dogs were shared, concert experiences were remembered, horns were thrown, and good times were had by all.

I've literally seen hundreds and hundred of shows over the years and Maiden audiences really are the best when it comes to devotion to the band.  Which is great to see.

I've been to an ICP show and 3 Twiztid shows....those fans are horrible.  My wife likes those bands, but hates the fans too.
