In the past few years, it seems that Britain has honoured many of their famous musicians with knighthoods - Paul McCartney, Elton John, Tom Jones, etc.
It can't be denied that these guys have made HUGE contributions to British culture, and they've influenced generations of people around the world....
...But so has Iron Maiden. I wonder if we'll ever see Sir Nicko or Sir Bruce? Maiden has influenced not just the Metal scene around the world, but nearly all genres of music. They've prompted many music listeners to reject bullshit and think for themselves, and they're just plain awesome.
So, next time one of you Brits are having crumpets with the Queen, tell her to knight Iron Maiden.
(Adrian Smith couldn't accept a knighthood, because that would require Him to recognise HM the Queen as a higher power, and there is no high power than Adrian Smith. :: )
