Jethro Tull: Thick As A Brick 2 coming April 2nd!

Travis The Dragon

AFTERGLOW!!!
Thick As A Brick sequel
to be released April 2nd

TAAB2 - Whatever HappenedTo Gerald Bostock? - is a full length Progressive Rock "concept" album worthy of its predecessor. Boy to man and beyond, it looks at what might have befallen the child poet Gerald Bostock in later life. Or, perhaps, any of us. To be released in two formats: the simple jewel case CD with 8-page booklet and the Special Edition with CD, audio-visual DVD and 16-page booklet. The DVD contains 5.1 surround mixes, 24-bit stereo mix, videos covering the making of the album, interviews with the musicians and the lyric reading where ian Anderson reads the lyrics in various settings. Also on the DVD are the pages of StCleve.com, the online update of the St Cleve Chronicle, fabled newspaper of the original album, and the multilingual lyric translations in Italian, German, Spanish, Czech, Polish and Russian.

WOW! That truly is amazing that we're getting a sequel to one of the greatest albums of all time!

First the Python thing, now this... I simply have no idea what to think. Hopefully Anderson still has a few good melodies in him. The fact that it's a "sequel" doesn't bode well though.

Forget the sequel. The real news is that he'll be playing the original TAAB live, in full, on tour. Hasn't happened in 40 years.

It's pretty sweet, but it would be better if he was doing it with Tull instead. His solo band is great though so I know they'll do it justice.

Looking forward to this, although I don't except it to very good. Maybe decent, but it will pale in comparison to the original.

I want to be optimistic, but when artists do sequels to either songs or albums it usually isn't a good sign. Shows lack of creativity, specially after so many years. Had it been planed, like Mago de Oz's Gaia Trilogy, then ok, but after...what? 30..40 years? Do a sequel? Hmm, I don't know.

The original Thick As A Brick album is getting the audiophile remastering treatment, to be released November 6. It's a 2-disc release, with disc one simply the remixed and remastered cd, and disc two being a DVD with 5.1 Dolby Digital/DTS mixes, a high-res version of the remastered CD, and flat transfer of the original mastering. Steven Wilson is doing the remix/remaster. If the recent Aqualung remix/remaster that he did last year is any indication, this release will not only be the best-sounding version of this album ever made, it might be the best-sounding rock music release this year.
