I was at the pub with a friend and his girlfriend on Wednesday night and we were watching the football, specifically the Manchester Derby. However that match was so boring we paid more attention to my friend's laptop because he put Sky Soccer Updates on or whatever it's called. Hartlepool were also playing and my friend's girlfriend (who is from Middlesborough) said that we have to support Hartlepool because her mum's boyfriend is from there (they were getting hammered by Sheffield Wednesday at the time). I mentioned to her that one of Iron Maiden's guitarists is from Hartlepool - namely Janick Gers - and it turns out that he lives in the same village as my mates girlfriend! She told me that he goes to their local pub quite often and that one time she was there with her mum (who is an Iron Maiden fan) at the same time Janick was there. She said to her mum "He looks like he should be in Iron Maiden" and here mum replied "He is". She won't get me his autograph though.

PS I was reading Janick's page on Maidenfans and I noticed a major error:

Therefore, the omens of this fun loving Geordie’s ability to adapt into the Maiden set might have seemed negative.
Teesiders frakking hate being called Geordies. Trust me, I've called two of them Geordies. :P

In Europe, plenty of football stadiums have standing areas, and that is where the die-hard fans are usually to be found. You don't really "sit" through a game.

To expand on that, in England all stadiums in the top league have to be all seated (no standing areas) and lots of people find this detracts from the atmosphere and general match-day experience.
I just get a seat near the back where everyone stands anyway.

Anyway, I was really just making a bad joke.
