Iron Maiden Members - Wikipedia

Ancient Mariner
Seems like some amateurs were busy with Iron Maiden members on Wikipedia.

I found some mistakes,

concerning e.g. Dave Murray.:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Murray_%28musician%29

"David Michael Murray (born December 23, 1958 in England) is a founding guitarist in the legendary heavy metal band Iron Maiden. He has been with the band ever since their inception in 1976, and along with bassist Steve Harris, he is the only member to have stayed in the band since then."

Iron Maiden was founded in 1975, not 1976.
Dave was not one of the founders. There were other guitarists before he joined.
In the seventies he was asked to leave and later he returned, so he hasn't been with the band since he joined.

concerning e.g. Adrian Smith.:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrian_Smith

"Smith departed from Iron Maiden in 1989"

He left in 1990, not 1989.

"After leaving Iron Maiden, Smith released a solo LP as the band ASAP (Adrian Smith Album Project) titled Silver and Gold in 1989."

This album was made and came out before he left Iron Maiden.

"He created the prog metal band Psycho Motel in 1996, and recorded two albums, State of Mind (1996) and Welcome to the World (1997)."

This kind of music is absolutely not prog metal, believe me. I am not sure how to call it, but I would think more of a "rhythm-guitar oriented rock, with a sauce of Alice in Chains on top of it." Since this is not "categorazible" in Wikipedia, it doesn't mean that some other term should be chosen out of the blue.

"In this band Zak Starkey (son of Ringo Starr) played drums."

Nonsense again. Starkey played on the ASAP record, not on the Psycho Motel albums.

Would any H-fanatic or Murray-admirorer be so good to get access to these fairytales and change some bits?
I have no clue how to do that, besides, I already spent some time to spot this crap. ;-)

The requested bits are now edited.

That was quick! Thanks! /smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /]

One little request, if possible:

Instead of this.:

"Adrian created the rock]] band Psycho Motel in 1996, and recorded two albums, State of Mind (1996) and Welcome to the World (1997). In this band Zak Starkey (son of Ringo Starr) played drums."

Maybe it's good to say ---> copy-paste:

"Adrian created the rock band Psycho Motel in 1996, with which he rediscovered his teen idols Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. Psycho Motel recorded two albums, State of Mind (1996) and Welcome to the World (1997)."

There! Now It's edited. /smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /]
Wikipedia is very useful although from time to time the members do get things wrong. This information about Dave and H does not seem to be life threatening so I wouldn't worry too much about it. It would be more dangerous if there were instructions about how to prepare illegal drugs etc ::
Oops, there does actually seem to be that type of information /ohmy.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":o\" border=\"0\" alt=\"ohmy.gif\" /] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_meth

The editing/formatting system on Wikipedia is also too awkward for me to handle... why couldn't they just use HTML?

To be definitely clear on this topic, just a small reminder here: Dave was truly born on the 23th of december, only it was in 1956! I've asked him face to face while on an interview with him once, precisely because I kept reading reviews skipping from 1956 to 1958 whenever it came to the year where he was born.
And by the way Angus Young from AC/DC was born in 1955, not 1959 as often said... But as far as "age ain't nothin' but a number", no one should be afraid of having his real age revealed, not even our powerful friends the rock-stars /tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":P\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" /]

While that's a good statement, I wouldn't be at all surprised if another Wikipedia editor requests a source for it - that is, for the part about Zep and Hendrix. If anybody has a link to an interview in which Smith himself made that statement, I'd be happy to add it as a source in the Wikipedia article.
