Brave New World
The Evil That Men Do
Powerslave

Purgatory
El Dorado
Rainmaker

At first glance I thought this would be quite a tough choice for me but most of them were actually pretty easy picks.

Hardest was probably Remember Tomorrow vs IOA, then Pasch vs Slave. Would've liked to give a vote to Clansman but it won't happen in that pairing :p

  1. Purgatory
  2. Deja Vu
  3. Only the Good Die Young
  4. Dream of Mirrors
  5. Isle of Avalon
  6. The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
  7. Brave New World
  8. The Evil That Men Do
  9. Powerslave

I'm actually surprised about Clansman only getting a couple votes, I thought it was much more popular around here than Evil.

Sheesh, things are starting to get really tough now! Voting against Rainmaker, Dream Of Mirrors, Remember Tomorrow, Brave New World, and The Prisoner were very difficult decisions for me...

Isle Of Avalon
The Lonelieness Of The Long Distance Runner
Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
The Evil That Men Do
Powerslave

Rainmaker beating Only the Good Die Young? Pfffff..... I am also surprised by Isle of Avalon's impopularity.

I'm very surprised and pleased, that Powerslave is beating Paschendale.... Powerslave was the clear underdog in that battle, and yet it's looking like it might win it! I love Paschendale too of course, but Powerslave is more classic to me. I'm happy enough that Rainmaker is beating Only The Good Die Young, even though I voted for the latter song. That was an incredibly tough choice for me to make. :( I'm not too surprised at Isle Of Avalon losing to Remember Tomorrow, as the latter is an established classic. To me, Isle Of Avalon is already a classic, and I voted for it, but I'm not too surprised to see it losing to that one.

Can someone explain why they voted for Powerslave? I honestly cannot imagine why that would be considered the better of the two songs. Paschendale has one of the best guitar solos in Maiden's catalog (I personally think it's the best with Thin Line and Stranger in a Strange Land falling after), it's got heart-wrenching lyrics, and there are so many emotions packed into the tune. And it's just so cinematic. You can see it all.

Powerslave has an awesome riff and a very cool midsection, but I mean, compared to Paschendale?

Admittedly, this isn't nearly as outrageous as Afraid to Shoot Strangers losing to Beast. :p

Adding up the popularity of the current line-up, the more reserved love for the Di'Anno-era plus Avalon being one of the best songs of the last albums (apparently people vary in this opinion) I am surprised.
