Iron Maiden and other family trees

My first Iron Maiden purchase was 'A Read Dead One' on cassette, at some point in the mid 90s.

Anyway, this cassette included a little poster which had a complete band family tree with all the band line-ups and the band people had come from and gone to. I remember finding it interesting that 'Gillan' appeared there because it meant that Iron Maiden was linked to Deep Purple, which in turn was linked to Black Sabbath (Gillan joined them for one album).

Someone mentioned to me once he'd seen a very similar family tree of deep purple, same font and everything, and I was wondering where you can get these if at all and how many other bands have them. Would be really cool if you can get a big one with 'all' the bands in it.

Will be grateful if you can offer any pointers :)

I googled "deep purple family tree pete frame" (Pete Frame been the guy who created them) and found this. And I also found this.

Near enough, I think. But it also does state that Pete Frame has a book with these trees in, which I googled and found this.

There is a message here somewhere. :D

Ah, you're the man. :)

'Pete Frame' was the key, all the 'family tree iron maiden', 'family tree heavy metal' and similar searches I did were useless.

There is one of those family trees in the booklet to "The Very Best Of Rainbow".

For anyone who has never seen Pete Frame's Iron Maiden family tree, I've created a text version here.

Since that tree only goes up to 1993, I've been working on creating a new tree to take us from there to the present. You can see that here. Additions and corrections are welcome - please post them in this thread.

Minor additions:

- The singer on Psycho Motel's first album was called Solli. Andy Makin replaced him for the second.
- The drummer in Bruce's latest band was David Moreno.

Not really worth bothering with the endless variations of Blaze's line-up since he split with Slater and Wray ;)

Tree updated.

And you are correct: I was not trying to represent every detail about the mess that has been BLAZE. I just wanted to get all the major names listed with their (approximate) dates.
