Iced Earth

I personally think that Iced Earth's change in vocalist was a positive one. I've heard samples from "The Glorious Burden" and I like it, I consider it there best project yet. Just like I think that every vocalist change in Maiden was a good thing. (Yes including Blaze). Di'anno was great, Bruce was just fucking amazing, blaze brought a new dark sound to maiden which was a good thing. so as far as Iced Earth goes....this was definately good.

I think Iced Earth's glory days were with "Something Wicked this way comes". The albums after that are ok, but not as good as their previous three. I prefer the vocals of John Greely and Matthew Barlow.

I also think "Alive in Athens" is the second best live ablum ever after "Live after Death".

No question Matt Barlow is the Bruce of Iced Earth marking their golden period. But I think Horror Show was a big step forward and the glorious Burden will be epic. My personal favorite is Burnt Offerings, i just love that cd. [!--emo&--]/headbang.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'headbang.gif\' /][!--endemo--] And Yes, live in Athens is simply phenomenal

Matt is the Bruce of IE and my favorite of their singers but I really love the fact that Ripper is in the band now. The Reckoning is a great song and I can't wait to hear the new album.

Tim has an amazing voice but suffered the same fate as Blaze. He replaced a fucking legend in one of the greatest bands ever. I hope he'll get some more respect in IE than he got in Priest.

Speaking of the Reckoning has anybody seen the single cover? it is IDENTICAL to Maiden's the Trooper! UP THE IRONS IE! it is a great song yet i like Valley Forge more. Great Single and can't wait for the cd! Tim Owens will fit perfectly with IE and hopefully help to get them a larger fan base given to his exposure on Priest. I hopefully will get Something Wicked This Way Comes for Christmas. Then I'll fight about it. [!--emo&;)--]/wink.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'wink.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

But that's their worst cd!!! You'd better try Burnt offerings or Dark saga.

Something Wicked is my favourite! [!--emo&--]/huh.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'huh.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

My favourite IE album is Burnt Offerings, the title track is totally amazing. But overall I don't think Iced Earth is that great.

Iced earth is the best AMERICAN metal band of the '90s hands down. and it has the talent to compete with the european market. They are HUGE in Germany and Greece. They haven't broken into the American conscious that much because the U.S as a whole no longer regards Metal as the "it" genre of the moment. They follow trends like a fifteen year old school girl. Sure they are no Maiden or Black Sabbath, but they have been more consistant than Helloween, gamma ray and other '90s bands in producing quality music time and time again. Mine too. Killer album.

I still think they could've chosen a better singer to replace Matt with than Ripper, but as long as they keep makin' good music that's all that matters I guess. [!--emo&--]/unsure.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'unsure.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Their first three albums are their best three IMO. Everything after Burnt Offerings is still good, but not quite up there with the first three (well... for me anyway. [!--emo&;)--]/wink.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'wink.gif\' /][!--endemo--] )

i have The Glorious Burden Ltd. on 2CDs, and i must say that Iced Earth couldn't fit better singer than Ripper, IMHO

Snake, you already have the cd? so it's out in Europe? It won't be out here until January (that sucks) But, I agree, I got the single (whose cover looks hauntingly familiar to the trooper's) and Ripper fits perfectly. As for their catalog, they have gotten better with every album, sure the raw energy is more present in earlier works, but John's writting in horror show is amazing (i.e Damian and Phantom Opera Ghost). And what do you guys think about the Double bass on Wolf? that drummer fucking rocks! [!--emo&--]/headbang.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'headbang.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Richard Christy has an amazing style and uses the double bass in a way that very few drummers do. Tom Heijnen, the drummer of the Dutch band [a href=\'http://www.conquestador.tk\' target=\'_blank\']Conquestador[/a], has a very similar style. I suggest you try them out too, they're fantastic! [!--emo&B)--]/cool.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'cool.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

[!--emo&--]/bowdown.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'bowdown.gif\' /][!--endemo--] i prefet Matt but tim is a great frontman anywan what do u think about an IE/IM tour [!--emo&--]/headbang.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'headbang.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

[!--emo&--]/biggrinangelA.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrinangelA.gif\' /][!--endemo--] [!--emo&--]/biggrinangelA.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrinangelA.gif\' /][!--endemo--] hey i forgot to log in what about IE/IM TOUR IT WILL BE GREAT [!--emo&:apu:--]/apu.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'apu.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

The styles are a bit too different to have Maiden and Iced Earth at the same concert, but why not?

I think it's interesting that Primal Fear opens for Iced Earth this upcoming tour. Ralf Scheepers always wanted to sing for Priest, his dream was almost reality, until the guys from Priest saw the Ripper video (Tim Owens playing with is Priest cover band) and chose Tim for Priest.

Now both guys (one sang in Priest, the other not) are performing with eachother!
I wonder what they have to say to eachother.
