Hi all
I am new here however my interest and appreciation for Iron Maidens music has just been completely revitalised.
I was lucky enough to bump into Bruce Dickinson on Thursday morning in St Pancras station by Kings Cross. I happened to be using a cash machine, turned round for a split second and saw Bruce, who happened to be looking right at me, about 5 feet away!
On the spur of the moment I asked the daft question, "are you Bruce Dickinson?" lol. I thought for a second it might be just someone who looked like him. To my surprise he answered "yeah, yeah" but played it down and turned away from me. I think possibly as a message to say that he didn't want the attention or he possibly thought I was a journalist or something?! I was dressed smart as I was visiting a customer in London and didn't look like a typical (?) Rock or Maiden fan, although I guess that is a stereotypical comment these days.
Well I knew I would probably never get the opportunity again to meet and talk to him so I wasn't go to leave it it at that. I simply expressed my thanks for his music and told him I had been a fan of Iron Maiden all my life and had seen them live a few times. At this point he turned to me smiling and listened to what I was saying. It was a very, very brief chat but I appreciated that he was a very famous guy out in a public place and I respected his privacy. He thanked me for my compliments and I wished him the best. He came across as a very sound guy.
I would much rather have had a pint with the guy but I think famous band members probably appreciate the subtle approach.
In those few seconds I happened to meet a hero and someone who I have grown up listening to and watching since I was a kid. I am still buzzing and as a result I will now be increasing my Iron Maiden collection
Cheers...

He was coming at me on a very small bicycle (imagine the big guy on a small bike, looked funny as hell) and passed me, and I turned and shouted, "hey, aren't you Nicko McBrain?" Then we had a very nice chat, just like I would imagine crazy Nicko talking in reality, and he took me with him to the studio... but the other Maiden guys didn't allow me in
Well, too bad it was only a dream...
