I was checking the headlines and this caught my eye..... so many ways to make money.

The Canadian government should sue those arseholes for pushing Americans to impersonate people who have more brains than them. Forrest Gump will never be Einstein! Good bloke!

That has to be one of the most shrewd and disgusting stunts pulled by a company that I have ever seen.

Don't worry, Maverick, we all share the blame. [!--emo&:(--]/sad.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'sad.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

What's so bad about that? Its cool. I would get pissed off and violent if someone was bugging me about stupid shit like the current events in politics, just because Im american. But I cant very well dismiss them, otherwise it might result in hazing, or bad-mouthing of Americans. Its a compliment. Everyone likes Canadians. No one is gonna harass you " Hahaha, you are right next to America, you suck!". But an American like me is screwed overseas. Its a great thing to have. And you arent being exploited, you are being helpful.

So be proud that we mascarade as Canadians when we travel abroad, its only cuz you guys are so cool. [!--emo&:D--]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

P.S-did I spell "mascarade" right?

Look, I'll tell the truth. I won't care about this till some Texan with a maple leaf pin does something like berate a Frenchman for not invading Iraq. Sadly, that's probably already happened...

I still think it's stupid and only to get our money. Do Canadians really wear shirts like that? Why not just say "Oh no, I'm Canadian," instead? Just work on your accent. @ SL, it's spelled "masquerade" actually.
Most Canadians don't have a "Canadian" accent.

Fortunately, none of the Americans, nor the rest of the world, know that. [!--emo&:P--]/tongue.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'tongue.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

It's aboot time they learn then, eh?

If Minnesotans have an accent, Canadians must as well, even if it's just some portion of you guys. I didn't even know we did until people who live elsewhere told me about it. It's possible that you simply can't recognize a Canadian accent. We Minnesotans tend to overemphasize our vowels a little (or so I've been told). Now that I know about it it's so clearly noticeable.

Alright. On accents: everyone has them. You just sound "normal" to yourself. Having said that, I do try to pronounce all the words in my vocabulary correctly. (The lack of doing so has led to some of the more annoying accents, like Southern USA "y'all" is NOT a word!) But because the way I form some letters and sounds varies, I will inevitably have an accent.

The Canadian "accent" is very similar to the Midwestern USA accent. But unlike most US cities, the Canadian English accent is the same from Vancouver to Halifax, with the exceptions of Cape Breton and Newfoundland. Most American cities (such as Bawwston, or New Yaark) have their own accent.
