Has The Bizkit Finally Gone Limp?

Wes Borland doesn't care about Limp Bizkit anymore. The guitarist can't even say for sure that he's still in the predominant rap-metal band of the late '90s. To hear him tell it, Limp Bizkit may not be an active band — period.

"We're officially on hiatus, maybe even officially over," Borland said. "It's kind of up in the air. No one said, 'We're done as a band.' Everyone's just doing their own thing, and [some members] don't have time for this band anymore. I haven't quit, but I've also decided to stop thinking about Limp. I'm not going to keep trying to breathe life into a dying animal.

"It just ground to a halt," he continued. "We just basically stopped talking. I feel bad for the fans that [might] think something's actually going to happen with Limp [in the future]. It's not happening. The Unquestionable Truth (Part 2) is not coming out. If it does, I'd be super surprised. But you can never say never. Anything's possible. As of right now, none of my future plans include Limp Bizkit."

It's been over for quite a while realistically. Somebody should have told them their genre was over in 2003. It's a pity that as one fad, "nu-metal" dies, another one, "emo/emocore" takes over. How long will it be until we are seeing the downfall of MCR, BFMV, Fallout Boy et al /wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /]

It's funny how MTV considered this relevant news at all. They should be more than preoccupied with the metalcore trend now than to wonder about Limp Bizkit's status, but either way, this is good news indeed!

Hopefully soon. I would give it a few months to a year before the emo trend is over.

If you live in the have been to the United States in the past year, you would have been horribly familiar with the "reggeton" trend. It only lasted about a year, and all of the "gangstas" are denying the fact that it ever existed now that it's not being played on the radio anymore. That just goes to show how fragile crappy trends are.

How did I now you were going to comment in this thread /tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":P\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" /]
I suppose that the metalcore trend has possibly taken over from emocore, or the line between them is indistinguishable.
@Fuzzboy, the media always tries to say old trends are stupid and endorses new trends, not realising this is a cyclical process. Their hypocrisy is what pisses me off /wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /]

Do you know why metalcore took over nu-metal? It's because kids got bored of their Linkin Park and Korn CDs and now want something with guitar solos in it. Therefore, Trendrunnner records starts singing lots of these metalcore bands to capitalise on clueless children. I do sympathise with the people who were into metalcore before it got trendy however. /smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /] It sure does suck to have something you like get abused as an accessory by kids with the attention span of a cabbage. I wonder what's going to be the next trendy thing after metalcore...

My thoughts Exactly!

I hesitate to say this as I hope it doesn't happen but it could very well be Power Metal. Dragonforce are getting alot of publicity in the likes of Kerrang so it is possible this will expand onwards towards the likes of HammerFall and co. I hope not because I really like Power Metal and would hate to see it get ruined.

I think this may happen aswell but not as soon as the next couple of weeks. It may take a year or so for Power Metal to became mega popular but some signs can be seen already /wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /] (remember my "pwnage" story BD? :: ) I think that only a couple of accessible PM bands like Df and Hf will get disenfranchised and I severely hope that Blind Guardian does not get dragged down with the rest ::

You have to know what it is you hate /tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":P\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" /]

Just hope its Bluegrass, and not Black metal. /wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /]

Well, in the more 'underground' areas of metal, black metal did turn into a trend during the mid 90s when news of the catastrophic events in Norway reached the rest of the world. What happened then, was that lots of teenagers started forming their own black metal bands and saturated the black metal genre with so many worthless clones (according to The Metal Archives, there are 10,004 black metal bands :: ). But at least there are still a couple of good, ground-breaking black metal bands that are around today such as Averse Sefira, Blut Aus Nord and Wyrd. /wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /]

Okay, maybe that isn't related to the breaking up of Limp Bizkit but um.... *runs away very fast*

What can I say. I always liked Limp Bizkit as a teenager, mostly because I was very much into the MTV scene at the time. It was good driving music, too. So I will always have a certain nostalgia for Limp Bizkit and Korn - it will bring me back to my youth, as shitty music as it is.

That doesn't mean I want to have more albums, and I am glad that Bizkit is finally tossing in the towel. However, if someone does play their version of Faith...

Is Limp Bizkit even metal? and i thought wes left the band years ago didnt he? ::

Wes Borland is working on a solo cd (that's what I read in a magazine.) And no, Limp Bizkit is NOT METAL. They are a Rock/Rap hybrid. They're pretty much rap music but with a heavy metal sound.
If they have a "heavy metal sound", why are they not heavy metal? I think this genre goating has gone on loong enough. We don't have to define something because we like it or not. Limp Bizkit are metal, like it or lump it ::

Well, I do agree with you there Conor. I'll give nu-metal some credit and say that it is heavy, but that doesn't mean I like it. Many people say that it sounds like static or that it is "psuedo heavy", which does not make any sense at all. Yes, nu-metal is heavy, it's just that many purists don't want to admit that. /wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /]

I think limp bizkit is alright but the are definatly not considered metal...

Being heavy doesn't make it good though!
*sigh* I said that it was heavy but that doesn't mean I like it. Do people actually read posts properly these days? :: Don't jump on me because said I nu-metal was heavy, I'm just giving the credit where it is due. And it's not just nu-metal. There's plenty of crap death metal. Just because Devourment and Mortician are heavy doesn't mean I like them.
