Hi all
I was at the Iron Maiden show at Hammersmith Odeon Dec 12, 1988. This was the last show of the 7th Son tour. I was visiting Europe from Canada and I was in Rome when I saw the Maiden show listed in NME. I zipped back to the UK using my Eurail pass and caught the show on the 11th at Wembley. The next day I was scammed out of some time and money and ended up missing my train back south.
Since my Eurail pass then expired and I had to pay for a ticket, I decided to take an extra day so I could catch IM's last show at Hammersmith. It was well worth the extra trouble and expense.
I got an excellent ticket from a scalper and ended up in about row 15 just off-centre. I had technical difficulties and didn't realize I was not recording for the first part of the show. By the time I realized and corrected the problem I had missed the first seven songs.
Because the show was incomplete, I never traded it. There are other sources out there but I have never tracked down a good one. I recently came across my master tape and dumped it to mp3. It turned out so nice, I am sharing it - even though it is incomplete.
I posted it today (Aug 15/04) in:

Anyone know if another really good source exists? I have only heard one and it was bad but I couldn't tell if the source was bad or if I just had a bad copy - it was a cheap one from a non-trader.

This was the last show of the very long 7th Son Tour, after which Iron Maiden took a two year break from recording and touring. This inspired fun and pranks from the band and crew.
During the opening Killer Dwarfs set, Iron Maiden ran on stage with cream pies and pied the Dwarfs in the face. There ensued a bit of a whipped cream fight.
During the slow part of 'Seventh Son of a Seventh Son' a tiny Stonehenge (a la "Spinal Tap") lowered in the centre of the stage and the Killer Dwarfs all ran out and danced around it. Bruce Dickenson chased them and caught one. He then threw him into the audience. You can hear Bruce change the words of the song at this point.
At some point during Maiden's set, two crew ran out on stage in a horse costume, one the head the other the back end. Dickenson grabbed them by the tail, pulled them apart and threw the back end part of the costume into the crowd.
During Bruce's encore chat a ladder lowers in the middle of the stage and someone in a bright yellow bear suit clibs down and enganges Bruce. You can hear the exchange as Bruce puts the bear in a headlock and pulls its head off to the delight of the crowd.
Anyone who was at this show enjoyed a stellar night. One of the best Maiden shows I have ever seen and I've seen every tour since 1984.
Anyone else from the boards that was there?
