Green Day singer angry "in Bruce style"

Or at least: a tiny bit in the beginning! This changes soon: I don't think Bruce would be so violent nor does he need treatment for "substance" abuse.

"Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances." - GreenDay.com

It was cut off, here are the setlist times from iHeartRadio.com, Green Day's videos add up to half an hour, here it says they were suppsed to have 45 minutes.

10:35p PT / 1:35a ET: USHER
11:05p PT / 2:00a ET: GREEN DAY
11:50p PT / 2:45a ET: RIHANNA

Billie Joe armstrong stops halfway through Basket Case to play a new song only to realise that they have 1 minute left on the stage. He gets angry and complains before smashing his guitar and flipping the camera off during Green Days set at iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas.

I'm not a fan of Green Day but I can definitely understand why he got so pissed. I know I would be if that ever happened to me. Its a bit disappointing though that the rant was brought on by 'substance abuse'. It makes you think well, would he have done that if he was not on a substance? Who knows. Its one thing to have a true rock rant just brought on by yourself rather than one thats fueled by booze, drugs, what have you.

I'd like to say I've seen less professional behaviour on stage, but then I would be lying.

Apparently right after this, Billy Joe sought for treatment, but what about his bass player (he slammed his instrument at least as hard). ;-)

Agreed. I'm not sure why he's getting praise for this. It was a childish tantrum by a 40 year old guy trying to be 'punk rock' at one of the most poppy music festivals out there. Also notice how he kept saying 'I', as if Green Day was a one man show, which I'm pretty sure it's not.

I guess he kind a overreacted but there was a cause for his anger. His set was cut short (15 minutes). Too bad the band had to apologize, probably under pressure of / out of fear for the TV station.

Or maybe it is and that's why the bassist felt compelled to start smashing too.

He should've just continued to play until they cut off their sound.
