GRAND THEFT AUTO: SAN ANDREAS ANNOUNCED

Rockstar Games is pleased to announce Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the next iteration in the globally successful Grand Theft Auto franchise. Developed by world-class designers Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be available exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and is expected to be in stores in North America on October 19, 2004 and in Europe on October 22, 2004

"In the past couple of years, we have put an enormous amount of pressure on ourselves to ensure we do everything possible to exceed people's expectations with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," stated Sam Houser, President of Rockstar Games. "Even though we still have eight months to go, we are starting to become very proud of what we have achieved and we can't wait to get the game into players' hands."

Leslie Benzies, President of Rockstar North, stated, "We are extremely humbled by the success of the Grand Theft Auto series and it has made us push ourselves further than ever to create a title in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that will hopefully redefine the Grand Theft Auto series and revolutionize open-ended gameplay and video game production values."

Over 30 million units of the Grand Theft Auto franchise have been shipped to date, including over 11.5 million units of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and over 10.5 million units of Grand Theft Auto 3.

AWESOME! This is gonna own. Anyone know if it is going to be themed like Vice City?
 
Personally, I don't care for the GTA games. I think emulating crime is a bad idea.
 
I hope it's as new as GTA3 was compared to GTA2. GTA:VC was a nice "upgrade" to GTA3, but this time around I need fresh blood!
 
Well, they'd better have thought out some bloody revolutionizing gameplay ideas then! Well, come to think of it, GTA:VC was fecking brill, so any improvements will do :grin:
 
Wasn't much different though was it? A motorbike a hellicopter and not much else new really. It was great though but wouldn't have bought it if I already had GTA3
 
It was the same game, just with all the little errors fixed. That's why I'm a bit worried about the new game and wether they'll be able to bring anything new to it or if it's just gonna be a full priced mission pack
 
San Andreas is to be built around the GTAIII game engine just like VC. GTA4 : Tokyo 2010 will be a brand new game engine and will be released on the PS3 in 2005/2006. SA will be set in the present day, and GTA4 will be set in the future (duh!). SA is due for release on oct 22 04 thats about 208 days, 7 hours, 57 minutes, and 3 seconds left from the time of posting this message.

I look forward to it too. Although it is set in present day (rumor). The company Rockstar had paid the Rapper 50cent to do some songs for them- but it is not certain if it will be for the new GTA [!--emo&:angry:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/mad.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'mad.gif\' /][!--endemo--]
 
it had better not [!--emo&:angry:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/mad.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'mad.gif\' /][!--endemo--] the soundtrack for VC was brilliant so many classics *stares of into space* ahhhhhh the memories
 
I'm seriously hoping it was not true. But they payed that guy alot of money to create some 'origianl' music for a game soundtrack. Just like the way snoop dog was hired for True Crime. But rockstar supposedly has like three GTA games in the works
