Lawless1 here from waaay back when on the old board.  Anyone on this board get into:
Kiss
Posion
Cinderella
Slaughter
Skid Row
White Lion
Winger
Warrant
Just wondering if I'm alone on this one.  I like these bands way more than the typical Dungeons and Dragon type of music that is over appreciated by a lot of gimps around here.

Either this kid is a troll or he really can't understand how other people can be different from him. I'm still giving him the benefit of doubt.

And for the record, I personally think that half the bands he listed are equally ridiculous as the kind of band that dwells in fantasy worlds. The other half is quite good, though.

First of all, the bands listed above are not glam rock, they are glam metal. This terminology is required to set them apart from the first wave of British glam (David Bowie etc.) True, the bands listed above are not metal (they're hard rock), but they're closer to metal than Bowie et al.

(Silence, Bowie fans. I know he did some metallic stuff.)

So here's what I think about them:

Kiss: great, great band.

Poison: had their moments.

Cinderella: very good band. Underrated by most.

Skid Row: some good songs, but I can't forgive them for "I Remember You". Yecch.

White Lion: so-so. Some good songs, great guitar player (Vito Bratta).

The rest on that list (Slaughter, Winger, Warrant) I cannot stand. Winger had a good guitarist (Reb Beach) but he couldn't save a lame band.

Right now, by coincidence, I'm listening to the king[sup]1[/sup] of all hair metal bands: Motley Crue. I'm also a huge fan of Twisted Sister.

[sup]1[/sup]I do not consider Kiss to be a hair metal band, because their origin is several years before the other bands named, and they made their mark long before the 80s LA hard rock scene took off. Also, they're from New York (as is Twisted Sister), so their inclusion in this group isn't quite right. But if I did consider Kiss to be a hair metal band, they would be the kings.

I've never really liked Bowie to any great extent, but (if I'm not mistaken) you are referring to his Tin Machine project here - right? This side of Bowie I quite liked, but any Bowie fan I've spoken to just could not get their head around it.

As for Cinderella, I can only judge what I've heard and that is their debut - Long Cold Winter - and I must say it is a fantastic album. Quite a "rocker" with a little nod to AC/DC.

Actually, that's their second album. Their debut was called "Night Songs", and it had a more 'typical' hard rock sound. LCW had a more blues-influenced sound, which worked much better.

KISS -- Listen to them.  Especially early stuff and late 80s (Creatures of the Night and Revenge).  Hate the disco era.
Posion -- Like them, but I got to be in a special mood for them.
Cinderella -- Don't listen to them.  I know nothing about them.
Slaughter -- Ditto.
Skid Row -- My fav from the list.  Their Slave to the Grind CD is a classic.  Rocker, punkish, emotional, great riffs, everything.  Under-rated CD.  I also think their Subhuman Race CD was under-rated.
White Lion -- Don't listen to them.  I know nothing about them.
Winger -- Ditto.
Warrant -- Ditto.  I know Cherry Pie.  Don't like it at all.

I'll agree with SMX: KISS is not Glam Rock.
