Starting tomorrow, Feb 10, 2009, the CPSC (the organization responsible for the outlawing of 3-wheelers) will not allow the sale of any motorcycle or atv that is sized for children to ride.  They are requiring all parts that are accessible for touch to be tested for lead.  So, as of right now, no bikes, parts, accessories, or appearal can be sold to the '12 and under' age group.

JUst something that affects my industry.  I'm sure that it, actually, reaches farther than just what I sell, but I haven't seen any other documentation as of yet.

I just saw that SiriusXM is in huge danger of going bankrupt as well. The econony freakin' sucks!

Yeah, SXM hasn't been doing so well; the merger really didn't give them the boost they were hoping for.

Free market, motherfuckers.

Except for all the restrictions on things.  ESRB should be lit on fire.

Is that the name of your new company, LC..erm... Odin?  "Free Market Motherfuckers"?

But you are correct.  If you can't run a company, and make a profit, then it should fail...tho I do like the occasional Krispy Kream.

I've heard on the other hand that SMX is doing well! (Yeah that was a bad joke...)

Edit: My next post will be my 500th!

Hah!  Well, kinda.  I believe a market needs some regulations, but as little as practical...but practical means quite a bit.

IN econ, they talk about the 'invisible hand'... regulation needs to happen, and it needs to make sense.  When it comes to pollution, and financial 'constraints' it makes sense... in some sorts of monopolies, it also makes sense.  Having 5 electric companies in one city doesn't work, tho-- as Atlanta can testify to.

Every time people tell me that a free market can self-regulate I point to October, 1929.  That market had extremely little regulation.  Or point to the 1987 stock market crash.  Reagan was kind enough to repeal a bunch of regulation, and the market responded by jacking up like mad on false reports, and then crashing like a bitch.

Exactly.  The thing is this:  if the market was in perfect equilibrium, it would act to where no one could benefit with out some one losing out; at that point all people benefit.  The problem lies in the times that people go outside of the workings of the market and try to fuck people.  Then you have the market not working properly-- that is why regulation (in some areas) is needed.

Take the de-regulation of the electric industry. It varies state to state, but here in Maryland, they de-regulated our electric and our bills have doubled. Some have more than doubled. And it's not even related to generating costs. They have transmission fees, user fees access fees. How about a bend over a bend over and take it in the ass fee

On a side note I wish they would just let the banks go under. You don't give someone who's job it is to handle money more money after they lost the money they were supposed to handle in the first place.
