Je profite de ce petit topic qui traite de cette intéressante interview de Bruce (sauf pour ce qui est du sens des paroles ! ( Hard Rock magazine n°26 - octobre 1986)
Dans cette interview, Bruce dit plusieurs choses plutôt fausses et qui n’ont pas dû vous échapper :
- Il y aura 9 morceaux. (et ben non !)
- Il n’y aura pas de chanson longue genre ‘To tame a Land’. (tu parles !)
- Toutes les chansons durent environ 4-5 minutes. (mon oeil !)
- Il y aura un morceau instrumental plutôt difficile à jouer. (pô du tout !)
Steve et Nicko sont allés enregistrer aux Bahamas tout seuls : les autres en avaient plein le dos des cocotiers. Mon avis est que ces deux sacripants ont rallongé tous les morceaux et ont combiné plusieures choses pour faire un seul morceau : l’instrumental est donc a priori la partie du milieu de ‘Alexander the great’.

Adrian has remembered an event published in a newspaper, a few years ago : an old mariner was discoverd, dead, but preserved in perfect conditions in the ices of the north pole. In fact he was in an expedition which disappeared after a collision with an iceberg. When his body was disovered, he’s get a medal posthumously.

Nous etions revenus complètement épuisés de la tournée 'World Slavery', surtout Bruce... il avait complètement disjoncté ! Son idée était d'enregistrer un album totalement acoustique, dans la lignée de JETHRO TULL. j'ai beau adorer ce groupe, je ne nous voyais pas monter sur scène pour défendre un tel album. Si nous avions sorti un double album, cette idée aurait pu être réalisable, il y aurait eu de la place pour des morceaux différents, même si nous ne les reprenions pas en concert. Mais ce n'était pas le moment de nous lancer dans une telle aventure. J'en veux pour preuve que lorsque Bruce a quitté le groupe, il n'a pas utilisé une seule des idées qu'il voulait à tout prix nous imposer sur Somewhere in Time. Il avait pourtant toute liberté de s'exprimer. Je ne crois pas que ses compositions étaient assez fortes pour permettre au groupe de prendre un tel risque.
