Dornenreich - Not quite a fan of the rest of their albums but this one is Folk/ Ambient Metal at its best:

Alchemist - Sorry AC DC and The Berzerker but Alchemist's hypnotic, prog like and sometimes Killing Joke like metal gets my pic. How I wish this band was still around!

Kishi - Cool Doom/ Stoner band from Angola. Check it.

Amenra - Not much of a fan though I reckon these Sludgers are really good. Nevertheless their last album really grabbed my attention. Also props to Agathocles.

Sepultura - Unknown band from Brasil... I hope you dig it :D:D:D. Also props to Titãs, RDP and Facada.

Devin Townsend - Let's put it simple: Dev is one of the best composers EVER . Period! Also huge props to the mighty Voivod.

Mercyful Fate - Do I need to explain why?

Crescent - Like old school melodic death metal? Add some middle east folk like melodies to go along. These guys are quite good.

Gojira - These guys took the world by storm and since From Mars To Sirius their Groove/ Death Prog metal shows why. Yes... Gojira is that good. Props to Blut Aus Nord and Treponem Pal.

Kyyria - Ah! The Suomi Faith No More. Great band! And unlike a million others Kyyria managed to show large FNM influences without sounding like a weak copycat. Stellar.

I think everyone knows Gojira, buddy.
True... but I know these guys since FMTS... and they never failed to deliver. There are some popular bands that make 2 or 3 great albums and then they live by the name. Not Gojira. One of the few bands I know without a single bad record in their catalogue.

You have great taste. Envy from Japan is also pretty incredible!

Kreator - Man... It's Kreator, duh? Props to bands like DAF, 1990's onwards Joachim Witt, Die Krupps or in another line the institution that is Helloween untill Kiske left (Chameleon not included!)

Progress Of Inhumanity - Like the Harmony Corruption/ Utopia Banished era sound? You'll love this, then. Props to Varathron and Sceptic Flesh.

Arsames - Old school death metal with sparkles of middle eastern melodies.

Aftersundown - Three punk kids from Jakarta created this beast. Aftersundown is exactly what raw Grind Crust should sound like. Powerful has hell!

Scribe - This band is amazing! It seems like these dudes took TDEP, System Of A Down, Faith No More and Animals as Leaders and scrambled it before releasing their pitch. And man... does it works....

@karljant how about you share your thoughts about your favourite bands in the Music Discussion forum? There are plenty of threads there, including Gojira and Kreator.

You have great taste. Envy from Japan is also pretty incredible!
A_M_A_Z_I_N_G band! Atheist's Cornea is simply insane. Also into Jambinai, Mutyumu and some old Loudness tunes when it comes to more down to earth stuff.

Sadist - Excellent Prog death metal band. Know these guys since their first single Black Screams. Check Tribe and Hyeana. Props to prog rock legends Area.

God Is An Astronaut - Sorry Primordial and early U2... but GIAA is as good as post rock can get.

Envy - Post Sludge amazing band... strongly recommend it! Props to Mutyumu, Jambinai and the legendary Loudness

Brujeria - VIVA MEXICO CABRON! :D:D:D Props to Leprosy.

Ihsahn - I know it's a sacrilege to second Quorthon or even Ulver and a handful more bands. But Ihsahn IMO reached such a level that no matter what project he is in I can only expect 2 things: extreme originality and quality.

The Gathering - I Never really liked a full record by The Gathering but in every single one of them with Annekke there was at least one song that blew my mind. Here's a good example. HM to Gorefest, also.

Bizarra Locomotiva - Big fan since day one, these dudes are one of the best industrial metal acts around the globe as far as I'm concerned. Props to Mão Morta, Sinistro, Process Of Guilt and Mundo Cão.

Obscure Sphynx - These guys built an unbeliavable wall of sound with elements prog, post, sludge or whatever you wanna call it. I call it amazing. Live shows are a must watch.

Multinational Corporations - Grind Crust and anti government lyrics ... in Pakistan! These guys must have balls of pure steel....

Undermorphine - Dwelling somewhere between a least complex Meshuggah and a way harsher Sikth, these russians developed one of the most addictive bands in the genre. If it's your cup of tea, go for it!

Negura Bunget - The way this band mingles gipsy romanian folk with experimantal/ ambient and black metal is really something.

Laibach - One of the biggest names from the NSK/ Industrial movement, Laibach's accolades are truly unmatched: started their activities as a political band in a ditactorial Yugoslavia, are the single eastern rock band ever to play in North Korea and clearly Rammstein stole a whole lot of ingridients from Milan Fras and the boys to build upon their success. Don't believe it? Just take a listen...

Creative Waste - These Saudis made their Grind Core sound as fresh as it gets with a simple twist: imagine Entombed's guitar sound and melodies arranged as they were penned by someone like Brutal Truth. Really really good!

Toundra - Amazing Post Rock from Spain. If you like soft, beautiful and yet vast sonic landscapes just pick this up. Also an huge honorable mention to Heroes Del Silencio.

The Young Gods - Ok ok I know. But hold your horses: if there's an helvetic band as influential as Celtic Frost that band is surelly The Young Gods. Acts like Devin Townsend, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Tool, Mike Patton, Ministry, The Chemical Brothers and even music monsters such as David Bowie and The Edge confessed they were somehow influenced by these guys. And I must add it was the first band of the genre I've ever listened to back when I was just 13 and man... did it opened my musical horizons! This is how big and mind blowing this band is.

Cool picks... Opeth, Enslaved and King Diamond are absolute masters in what they do. Regarding Israel old Orphaned Land is also really cool.

Cult Of Luna - We all know Sweden is a powerhouse when it comes to music and some amazing bands in a multitude of genres (too many to point out but regarding metal only bands like Candlemass, Entombed, At The Gates, Mesuggah and Opeth come immediatly to mind). The reason why I chose Cult Of Luna (besides being an absolute fan) is as simple as enormous: every time these dudes release a new album it is always as good or better than the previous one. I can´t recall a band that managed to do this 7 times since their debut. It's simply ridiculous!

Wolfram - Excellent alternative prog metal act. Wolfram take Tool as an influence and then build something completely of their own on top. Listen to Music Of The Heathen.. you won't regret.

Soom - Cool, crunchy and hypnotic as hell Doom/ Sludge from Ukraine. One hell of a trip.

Sigur Rós - Well... Another well known band. SR's approach to post rock is as subtle as disruptive. I don't recall a band as quiet and as hard to listen to while being so good

Nuclear Winter: Some realy heavy melodic death metal with lots of synths and electronics. Sparkles of originality in a genre that seems overcrowded by cliches and bands copying one another.
