PESTILENCE
Prowler
Although "Diamonds" was released in may, I have only just had the chance to hear it...I was/am absolutely blown away by this record. It is an almost perfect example of how a NWOBHM album should sound...even though it's 30 years late...and they are Swedish
Diamonds is highly recommended for fans of early Maiden (obviously - just listen to Midnight Vice), Angel Witch, Sweet Savage, White Spirit, Weapon, etc. It also, again obviously, has elements of old school speed metal (in the vein of Accept) tucked away in it's corners, but overall the sound is predominantly very British c. 1980.
I don't usually go for the whole retro thing, as I find it derivative and pointless, but these guys (and White Wizzard)are definitely an exception. It's one thing to play in the same style, and to produce your album in the same way, but to capture the attitude and feel of the time with such a level of authenticity is certainly something special.
I am looking forward to hearing more from these boys in the near future.
