Doctor Doctor Intro Song

The last two times I saw Maiden live in NYC and Long Island they played UFO's Doctor Doctor right before coming on stage. I know Steve Harris admired Pete Way as Maiden was starting up, but does anyone know the story behind that song as an intro?? Is that a Maiden tradition now like ending with "Iron Maiden"??
 
No - it was only used at this tour (wasn't it?).... Did you know that Maiden did a cover of Doctor, Doctor when Blaze was with them?
 
Don't know much about the tradition but I do remember that the last 3 times I've seen them (the 3 tours before DOD) that was their intro cue and the closure is The Bright Side of Life
 
It's not really an intro : it's just the last song played through the PA during the interlude.

It's something often used : the last song before the show should announce that something will happen very soon. And this one is great for that because, as says by Dogigniter, they have covered it (B-side of 'Lord of the Flies' and also one edition of 'Virus')
 
It's a great warm-up right before a gig....
