Do you think we could get a petition going to have them play "Flight of Icarus"????  That is my favorite Maiden song, by far, and as best as I can tell, has not been played live since the "World Slavery" tour!  I wonder why that is? I know Steve always thought the song was too slow, but I don't know...I think it's great!!  I need to see this live, and was pretty disappointed that on the "Ed Hunter" tour they did not play it!

I have a feeling I have seen this thread before, so I'll repeat my previous response...

No.

Although Bruce played it with his solo band on '98/'99 tour.

Anyone have any insight as to how the band picks its setlist?
Why are the big three sacrosanct?
Why don't they change a few songs up from night to night?

Because when it comes to live shows, they are lazy. If they practiced this stuff, and tried to make it happen, they could do it. But they don't, so we get the same set of songs every tour.

But the thing is, they've proven not to be lazy by doing all of AMOLAD and pulling out Dance Of Death in the last year. I'm not sure if it is laziness. Maybe they just don't feel some songs go over well live or something.

AMOLAD is the exception to the rule. DoD, not so much. They did a whole tour of new material, having that song made perfect sense.

I think a song like 2 A. M. would be an awesome opener for a new tour, I'd also like to see gangland.....

You could get a petition together when ever you like, whether anyone signs that petition or not is a different manner. ;)

Opener? I'd be asleep before the 2nd song!
2AM is a great song and I wouldn't mind hearing that live - but as you say, never as an opener.

And similarly with gangland... i presume after that they could play apparition and then close with quest for fire
then leave as the crowd are too bemused to listen any further and the venue must carry them out on stretchers

Hey whoa man, I do not enjoy a lot of mediocre Maiden songs. I've always had a thing for Gangland and 2 AM that's all.

I do enjoy some of the unpopular songs too, but opening with 2 AM would be a huge mistake.

Ahh, I already have the idea planned in my head. No, what would be even more fuckin' awesome would be to surprise us all with Alexander the great as the opener. Now that would be awesome.

No, it would be retarded.

Rule One: energetic opener that gets the crowd into it. Alex doesn't cut it. That's a song that needs to be later in the show. (Never happen.)
