Do you recycle?

I was sorting my refuse last night, and I got wondering who else is as picky about waste management as I am.

I sort my drinking bottles/cans into one bag (to get the nickel back, of course!), other recycles into another, compost and biodegradables into a bin, and other refuse into the actual garbage.I also put used batteries in the special bin outside my uni's library.

All this is picked up by the municipal government's collectors and dealt with appropriately. Apparently, Nova Scotia is one of the few places to be so psychotic about waste management.

Just as I do except that I put bottles and cans in 2 different bags and I have also a bag for newspapers and magazines.

Switzerland is THE recycling country.

You have to separate the glass from the rest, and even by colour! Metal is recycled separately too. The "green" rubbish generated when you do some gardening also goes to another rubbish bin. PET is also to be separated. Etc.

I'd never seen that before, but I got used to it [!--emo&:)--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/smile.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'smile.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Britain's recycling program:

Able to be recycled - chuck in regular bins
Totally fucked up with no use at all - Why not recycle?

I have to recycle... the law is the law. However if you don't the city seperates it for you anyway...

Well, not quite. Where I'm from (Kent) there is a paper, foil and aluminium can collection service.

Our family do recycle glass, but we go to a public recycling point to do so, as with textile recycling, clothes etc.

As often as I can. We just got new bins in our village for recycling so i'm sure i'll be using those. Recycling paper creates even more pollution though.
