Dance of Death Singles

I know Maiden have realeased 'wildest dreams', 'the rainmaker' and 'no more lies' as singles, but will they release more from this album? I can think of about 4 more songs from the album that would make great singles and have good promotional videos. 'Monsegeur' (perhaps), 'paschendale', 'dance of death' and 'journeman'. I think a paschendale video would be good, but some of you might disagree saying that perhaps it might ruin your personal vision of the battle. I would love to see all of these songs released as singles, but with 3 already out, that could be the end of them already. Dance of death might be a no no, because it has the same name as the album, even though they did do it with number of the beast. Wildest dreams, rainmaker and no more lies, in my opinion, arent the best songs on the album so id like to see further releases. What do you all think? do you think they will release more singles? How many do you think, if any? Which songs will they be? I'd like to hear your views maidenfans!

They will probably release a single to promote the live DVD once it comes out. In that case, the single would very likely be a live cut, most probably the same version as on the DVD. Paschendale or Journeyman would be good candidates. Dance Of Death could also be likely.
Another studio single is highly unlikely. The only candidate in my opinion would be Journeyman, as they played it on the tour and it's not too long. But a ballad for a Maiden single? It would be a commercial flop. Besides, there is already an alternate version on the No More Lies EP.
Apart from that, why should Maiden back away from their tradition of releasing two singles from each album (NML doesn't really count as a standart album single, in my opinion)?

the 2 single part there was what i was thinking. Its tradition for them to release two singles, that being the reason why it is less likely for them to release another one.

Well, look at it empirically. Maiden's not a single-driven band. Never has been, never will be. Therefore, they don't feel the pressure to release three or four an album, as modern pop acts are. Yes, I forsee a live single from the DVD; it'll likely be Journeyman.

But the reason there are so many single-worthy songs on an Iron Maiden album is because they're not single-driven! Maiden doesn't need to feed the MTV masses to sell platinum albums, nor will it ever. Thus, they don't make a 15-song album with 3 songs for MTV and 52 minutes of filler. They make a kick-ass album that pisses on pop and shits on rap.

Sure, there might be some songs there which are single-worthy, but personallly I think it would be rather pointless to release another single. What exactly is the point with it? It would just give the people who keep going "Maiden is only in it for the money" more to whine about.

But still, if they have to release a new single, do something with quality! No rip off covers and album song remasters! Get a good artist to draw a decent cover and record an original studio b'side (like Pass the Jam), not another "orchestral version" or "rock mix". And release it in Sweden.

Anyway I don't think Maiden should release more than two or maximum three singles per album. As LC pointed out, they don't need them. Modern pop and rap acts are carried forward by hit singles, cause they don't have enough talent to make an entire album with good songs. I remember two years ago there was a pop act who had a real hit single, on top of the charts for three months, and their album included 5 versions of it, out of a total of 11 songs!

Las Ketchup had at least 4 remixes of their ketchup song on their album and the rest of it was utter crap.

Come to think of it, that ketchup song was utter crap and I have a hard time thinking of any way that the rest of the album could've been worse [!--emo&:puke:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/pukeface.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'pukeface.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

That's a rare Maiden single and therefore didn't sell much.

Pretty much like No More Lies. You can't really count that as a commercial single, as it was not intended for non-Maiden fans to buy.

I really couldn't say whether a single will be released. I would hope if it was, it would be Montsegur or Paschendale - but then again it may well be Journeyman or Dance Of Death. The latter is most likely - I personally don't think Maiden rated Montsegur much - thats likely half the reason why they didn't play it on tour......

Part of me thinks that another single would be completely unlike Maiden; because although the 7th Son Album had 4 singles, i dont think Maiden think the amount of singles released acts as a gauge for their success.

There would be a little bit more point if it was a promo for the live DVD. Having said this though, who's likely to buy the DVD; mostly die-hard maiden fans i suppose and they won't need persuading to buy it - trust me on that [!--emo&:P--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'tongue.gif\' /][!--endemo--]!

I wouldn't care for another single and I doubt that Maiden would ever release another single from DoD. They definitely don't need to make a single to support DoD anymore. Although Maiden released 4 from SSoaSS, Infinite Dreams was released to support Maiden England. If another single was made from DoD, it would be for a similar purpose but I still think it would be very unnecessary.

well-said!

Are they gonna release a new album in 2005 or 2006? because what i have heard they are but Bruce is leaving. How the hell is this possible?

Bruce is leaving? Anyone else thinks so around here? Where did you hear that?
By the way, the new album is due in spring, 2006, if some sources are to be belived.

I've not heard that Bruce is leaving again. There might be rumours though cos of his solo album coming out soon.

When it comes to the singles I don't think they will release another from DoD. They never have had to release many singles from their albums, they sell many copies no matter what.
If I should wish for a new single I want it to be New Frontier. Nickos first album credit and I like the song a lot. Was dissapointed when the EP was NML and not NF. Not that I don't like NML, I think it's great, but Nicko deserves it after beeing in the band almost half of his life and he has done one hell of a job on the drums.
Hope he gets a single from the next album.

Where i heard was a local metal forum here in utah... But they are also saying that Bruce might be bring a new addition to the band if he does not leave.

Belive me, you can put THAT ONE to rest. There ain't gonna be another member for Iron Maiden. Hello, they're not Slipknot!

Well, it's easy. He just goes off again? It happened before, and good thing too...

LC, if you really feel that way, then you might wanna rethink your avtar! [!--emo&:)--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/smile.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'smile.gif\' /][!--endemo--]
