Blaze: could this be the reason he got sacked?

My fellow maidenites,

I was browsing through Amazon.com hoping to find good live footage of Mr.Bayley performing with the band.  What did I find but by far the STRANGEST performance Iron Maiden have ever performed.  Strange, in what way?  I hear you ask.  Well, to put it mildly, it goes as follows:  Blaze is singing, and realises somebody is spitting at him.  As song continues his vocals decline, as he becomes more and more drenched in saliva.

When the band stops, he says, pretty much that the crowd should kill the culprit, or even better, let him kill them himself".  The whole band end up joining in, Steve Harris doing the masonic "throat cut sign", the whole time pulling his hair back as if he's been hit by dozens of rocks, rather than a bit of gob.

Blaze goes mental, completely, and utterly.  I think it's entertaining to watch, but it is a bit "spinal tap".  I mean, I hate getting spat on, but one can only go on for so long.

Some say Blaze was sacked after this incident.  What do you think?  I'd appreciate knowing why he was sacked\departed of his own accord.

Here's the video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRwAA2J7iwA

I'll be seeing you /.\

I think that incident occured in Chile during the X-Factour. It seems odd that the band would wait another album and another tour before sacking him if this incident was behind any such decision.

Unless Bruce was unavailable at the time. ;)

You have to know the whole gig to know what happened there. Trooper was one of the encores, but that guy kept spitting at the band right from the start. That means 2 hours full of spitting. Blaze tells him - in a more "friendly" way - that he should stop throughout the show.
You're bound to go crazy. I've heard Bruce having a go at someone for far less than that (even if throwing ice cubes on stage is just as disgusting). And as you pointed out, Steve was not too happy either. Why would he want to sack Blaze afterwards then? And why would he do it 3 years later?
Oh well...

I didn't realise what a prominent Midlands accent Blaze had.

Probably because i've only heard him sing before.

o.O

Thats my two cents for the subject that has been discussed on about twelve occasions before this.  -_-

I've read somewhere that he got sacked due to the fact that Virtual XI was ignored by the fans. I would post it with a link, but it's in French :-\

I love Virtual XI, fans who don't, well provably they aren't ready for it, but the music on that album, man, it's great.

Now back on topic, that happened in Chile and there are some comments on youtube from people who were at the concert, one guy was spitting at maiden not everyone, he faded into the audience I believe, I'm not sure if he got his ass kicked, I forgot, but you can read on the coments about people who were there so...

And no, that wasn't why Blaze left the band.

I never said that what was on that site was 100% real and here is 100% false. I just said what I've read on that site...

It's the first time I see the video of this. You're right, it is rather amusing to watch in a weird way. But as it has been told twice before, this has been discussed in other threads.

Can somebody tell me the real reason WHY Blaze Bayley, who in my opinion is a brilliant and dramatic singer, got sacked?  Was it really because the Irons thought, "we'll go further when Bruce is back"?

What I've heard is that even if Bruce didn't come back, Blaze wasn't going to have a permanent position anyways... Exactly why I don't know.

He was feigning injury/sickness on tour... or so the "Biography" seems to imply ;)
