Blackmore's Night transgresses time by bringing the romance and
chivalry, the magic and majesty of the past, into the present.
Although Blackmore's Night has received several awards for their
studio albums, the group really shines performing live in an
atmosphere of camaraderie and friendship.
The joyful spirit of Medieval mood music and gipsy dances lives on 500
years later on Blackmore's Night's double live CD 'Past Times With
Good Company,' which is set for North American release on SPV Records
on February 25, 2003.
Legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and vocalist/lyricist Candice
Night created Blackmore's Night in 1997 to blend rock, pop and folk
with an overt Renaissance feel. Blackmore plays acoustic guitar and,
occasionally, the electric guitar, but the music of Blackmore's Night
is primarily rooted in traditional instruments such as hurdy-gurdy,
shawm, cornamuse, rauschpfiefe, mandolin, mandola, pennywhistle,
tambourine and Renaissance drums.
'Past Times With Good Company' was recorded in May 2002 in Groningen,
The Netherlands. It includes songs from the three Blackmore's Night
studio albums 'Shadow of the Moon,' 'Under a Violet Moon' and 'Fires
at Midnight' as well as two songs that Blackmore originally recorded
with Deep Purple (\"Solder of Fortune\") and Rainbow (\"16th Century
