i have started to take a liking for UFO I just dont know what album to start with. Suggestions?

This is an easy one: Strangers in the Night.  Big UFO fans will tell you they love the studio albums, but this live album is UFO's magnum opus, and one of the greatest live recordings of rock music, ever.  A must for any collection.  (It also features the live version of "Doctor Doctor" featured at every Iron Maiden show.)  I won't say more, as this album has been discussed quite a bit on this forum already, so run a search for more info, and enjoy.

I'd put Phenomenon first
As would I. And I would also consider Lights Out.

Then, after all the above, move on to Mechanix.

Ooh, not often you see love for Mechanix...

"Doing It All For You" makes the album.
Such a beautiful ballad-type chorus, "I'm doing it all for you..." - and then you hear the verses, and realize what he's doing for her is committing armed robberies.

"Yeah, it's all for you babe - just a second, sweetie - I SAID PUT THE FUCKING MONEY IN THE FUCKING BAG, BITCH."

I listened to the song thinking they actually say this!

Anyway, the part before the solos sound alot like the BTATS.

I heard that too (the similarity to the main riff in BTATS). Maybe 'Arry took some influence from UFO there, but it's different enough that it's far from plagiarism.

By the way, cool song.

Dreaming is a UFO Top 10 for me.

Not sure if you all know or not, but the 2008 reissue of Strangers in the Night has a forward/appreciation written by non other than Steve Harris in the liner notes.

Amazing band.
