Infinite Dreams.... that was another surprise for me. An average song (IMO) that I very rarely listen to, was voted as the best in part 7; leaving TETMD and the title track far behind. Anyway, we are moving into 90s now...

From the highest ranked to the probably lowest ranked album... Time for "No Prayer For The Dying". My guess is Mother Russia will be the winner, but after the last 2 parts I won't be surprised if another surprise comes out :)

Already in round 2: Phantom of the Opera, Killers, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Revelations, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Caught Somewhere in Time, Infinite Dreams

Mother Russia sounds better than the rest for me, so it has my vote. Bring Your Daughter… would probably be the second choice.

For me this is a fight between “Tailgunner”, “Fates Warning”, and “Run Silent Run Deep”, which are all great songs, albeit with some flaws.

Although I recognize that the chorus of “Fates Warning” is sort of a budget knockoff of the chorus of “The Clairvoyant”, the song as a whole still feels suitably driving and epic, and the bridge is fantastic, so it gets my vote.

Tough call. I don't think this album's as bad as it's made out, but I only revisit Holy Smoke, Public Enema Number One and Mother Russia regularly (also, Bruce's version of Bring Your Daughter... > Maiden's). Of those three I probably listen to Holy Smoke the most, but calling that the best seems a bit of a stretch. Mother Russia has some nice riffs and a killer solo section, though it could've benefitted from another verse and less Seventh Son-copying. Saying Public Enema seems fair, crap title aside, it has some awesome drive in the verses and a fantastic ascending bridge that leads nicely into an excellent solo.

Tough one actually, I like the title-track, Holy Smoke has always been fun song for me and I like Mother Russia and Public Enema Number One.
This was much harder thing to think so..

Bring Your Daughter To Me!

It was tough for me to choose between all these songs. The hardest choice between "No Prayer For The Dying", one of the most underrated Maiden's songs, and "Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter", the rock hit par excellence. But, I chose the second option because of its catchy riffs, tempos and choruses.

Holy Smoke. But this is a difficult one. Im kinda saying Holy Smoke cuz of the video, its brilliant. But Run Silent Run Deep and Bring Your Daughter are close behind

I take offence to the introduction to this album
"From the highest ranked to the probably lowest ranked album... Time for "No Prayer For The Dying". "

Quite clearly Powerslave is the highest ranked and Virtual XI is the lowest ranked.

No Prayer is a terrific album. Only songs that are mediocre are Tailgunner and The Assassin
Highlights are No Prayer for the Dying, Public Enema Number One, Fates Warning, Run Silent Run Deep
The album is lacking in terms of quality of solos, but it is high on fun, high on melody, great choruses, the tone is much better than Somewhere in Time, and Bruce sounds absolutely terrific.

For me, it is harder to pick the number one song since the top 4 all spring to mind. Perhaps I'll give it to No Prayer for the Dying, I was very, very tempted to give it to Fates Warning (the bass on that song is top notch)

I partially understand what you're saying but honestly there is no reason to take offense to anything. All this stuff is subjective, personal opinions.
Over the last 2 months we had all those album vs. album polls and my favorites lost almost all of the time.
And it's all cool, because you know why? Because I was in a forum with other IM fans discussing the band and the music, for which I am so grateful.

I learned that The Final Frontier and Dance of Death - two of my favorite IM albums - aren't as popular among IM fans. But no big deal, we got to discuss songs and themes. I am not big on 7th Son and pretty much don't listen to AMOLOD at all but again, no big deal I have my favorites and other have theirs. And if I'm in the minority, that's perfectly cool we all just have our personal favorites. And we come here to discuss them and enjoy the dialogue among like minded fans.

I've seen No Prayer ranked as the worst IM album couple times on other sites and you may be right; I saw VXI too. That's why I said "Probably". However if it comes to my personal choices, Killers is the worst, and Dance of Death is the best (followed closely by TBOS) for me. As for SSOASS or Powerslave, the highest they can go would be no. 9 in my top IM albums list; behind all the reunion albums, FOTD and probably TXF. One thing that bothers me about SSOASS (and SIT) from the 80s is the sound of the synths, which I think takes a lot away from the beautiful guitar sound.

...and thanks for your clarification that your comment was "tongue in cheek" :)

NPFTD. I’ve always thought this album suffered from the lads intentionally dumbing it down, or whatever they did. Getting back to roots, etc….. I can hear the great Maiden album in there somewhere. But it’s just not quite like the run of albums that preceded it.
Still some not great but….. “very good” tunes on here. None as “very good” as fates warning. That’s my choice.
“ A volcano erupts and sweeps a town away” my favorite Maiden moment on No Fear….

For me, and I might have mentioned this before in other threads, The Assassin (musically, apart from the brainless lyrics) and Fates Warning are the best two tracks from an otherwise seriously disappointing album, worst ever by that time but there was even worse to come of course.
And Bring Your Daughter should never have been released as a Maiden track, there was enough poor stuff on this album already.

^That said, the No Prayer album has a really special place in my heart.
It made me plunge into thrash, death, and Black metal at the right time, and my entire life afterwards would have never been the same without it.
