Best of

Might be scraping the barrel with something to talk about here but couldnt see a post about all the best ofs. Just been listening to the Best of the Beast. Imo the best of them. Brilliant packaged, good tracklist, a new track and songs from the soundhouse tapes. The only downside is the errors in the book (whode have thought it).

SBIT and FFTE are pretty well package and a good selection of tracks but i think SBIT could have been 2 discs aswell.

Edward the Great anyone?

I have very fond memories of Edward the Great, as it was the first Maiden CD i laid my hands on, right before the release of Dance of Death. I think "best of" is a bit misleading though, as it's exclusively a compilation of album singles, save for the Fear of the Dark live track.

True i think that was a bit rushed tbh. They were just getting traction after Bruce rejoined and used that as a bit of a reminder to new fans. Was a but useless to use oldies though

Could have a 3 disc set

80s, 90s and post reunion if you were to do it again, unless you really weant to shrink a best of down to be about an hour ish total as to not overwhelm

A spotify playlist with about 20 songs, most of them 80s songs, FOTD and 2-3 reunion songs would be ideal for someone to get to know the band. Then, I think, listening to the whole discography is the way. I'm not a fan of best ofs.

Same here. I think beyond the odd band or two I picked an album or two to start with and took it from there

Best Of The Beast is the best!
Edward The Great is very poor selection and 50% of the SSOASS album wtf.
It was a greatest hits so all singles, it did what it said on the tin really.

Best of the Beast is the only one that ever really meant anything to me. We got previously unreleased stuff (Virus, Soundhouse Tapes) plus the deluxe version had plenty to read and look at. It was a special release.

Nothing after that had much value to me (still bought most of em). I liked Fear to Eternity, it was nice to have a compilation of non 80s stuff to play in the car.

Yeah BOTB was done properly. Felt like something a little different

Maybe they can add one or two new short tracks, so they don't need to record new album, it looks like Steve doesn't want to record new album.
