Best of the Beast

It was the first Maiden album that I ever owned. Dad brought the single CD version home one day after I had expressed an interest in Maiden. I heard them on the game Carmageddon 2. This was in 1998 and it was a big deal for me at the time. Dad never bought CDs for us. We were not tight on money, but Dad was the only one who worked so he had to spend his money wisely.

I wore out my copy but I recently found a perfect condition copy in my local charity shop. I spun it a few times recently. It’s still the ultimate Maiden compilation. From Fear to Eternity is a close second though.

I've owned this album three times. My first copy was stolen by a dickhead from school. My second I sold along with the rest of my CD collection sometime in 2010 (which I've been clawing back ever since). This one just arrived courtesy of Ebay.

It was also my first ever Maiden album. 1000021099.jpg

Is it not the same as the Real Live Dead One recording from Helsinki?
Yes, you're correct.

It just includes Bruce screaming the title at the start of the track whereas on ARLDO, it happens at the end of The Clairvoyant.

Terrible mastering to do that shit, if I'm not mistaken the drum intro to Powerslave is also on the end of Back in the Village on those masters
