So here's how this is going to work. Since there aren't as many classic live albums as there are studio albums, I'm going to include every album that gets nominated. Please list your nominations by decade, so I can easily organize the list. I'll list my nominations later.

Also, should we automatically include all of Maiden's live albums, or let people nominate them?

Might I ask how you will organize this? Anything different from mckindog's method? You only want a few groups based on decade.

By the way, the decades we're mentioning are the decades of release right? Not per se of recording?

If you want more info (year of release), give a shout!

Decades of release. Because you get things like Different Stages that cover different decades. Though I'll make some exceptions, like Maiden England would go with the 80's.

I'll probably have a few years worth of material join at a time. I'm still working out specifics. It really depends on how many nominations I get.

Queensryche - Operation LIVECrime (Possibly cheating :p)
After giving this some thought I've decided that it'd probably be best to not include this. But I think live albums that have albums played in their entirely along with other material should be okay. Obviously you guys can give your input on this.

In other words, Rush's Time Machine Tour Live is OK, Queensryche's Livecrime is not.

I'd say automatically include the Maiden live albums, even though we all know they'll reach the top 10. I don't own too many live albums, but I like these ones:

2000's
Anthrax - Music of Mass Destruction
Joe Satriani - Live in San Francisco
Symphony X - Live on the Edge of Forever

I think Dream Theater's best live album is easily Budokan, but that's because I love Train of Thought so much. Symphony X needs a new live album stat, although I'd be surprised if it included any of the classic progressive older songs.

And Alive in Athens is amazing.

I prefer Score, if only for Octavarium. I also like all the rarities. There's a lot of stuff on Budokan that I don't care much for, though it's still great. Instrumedley is epic.

From what I can remember, LaBrie sounded much better on Score than on previous live albums. I actually thought Octavarium was the band's weakest album by far and thus didn't care too much for Score's set list. The orchestra bits were nice, but for the most part I would have picked other songs. I really liked the inclusion of Raise the Knife, though.

I'm excited to hear Live at Luna Park, since it has such a massive track list. I'm not sure they needed to play all of Dramatic Turn of Events, but oh well.

2000s

Megadeth - Rude Awakening
Judas Priest - Epitaph
Cradle of Filth - Heavy Left-Handed and Candid (
)

How the hell do I just insert the link without the youtube box appearing?

OK I guess I should point this out now. This is a survivor for live albums, videos don't count. Stuff like the Cradle of Filth thing and The Big 4 concert. Sorry I wasn't clear about that.
