Benjamin Breeg B-side disappointment?

Hey all,

I was able to find a copy of the Benjamin Breeg single at a local music store (I'm in the USA, so these things are harder to come by :)). I'm glad I have it for my collection, but was anyone else disappointed by the B-side? It isn't really anything new or different, it sounds pretty close to the original Hallowed Be Thy Name.

Not to mention, I'm also a bit disappointed that the vinyl single has two B-side tracks but the CD only has one..

I do agree with you, such things wouldn't have happened in the 80's...

No surprise here, it's the laws of the market: you've got to buy the vinyl as well. It's good for the band because it increases sales* although they could put the 3 tracks on the cd easily. Note that vinyl buyers would certainly have bought the vinyl version whatever the cd content. Again, it would have been different some 20 years ago... :(

*ironical sentence....

Most B-sides suck anyway and that's why they are b-sides...
What do you mean OnHell? Does Total Eclipse suck? Does King Of Twilight suck? Would you say that I've Got the Fire sucks?  :o

Most bands are out to make money.  Maiden are no exception.

There are different ways of making money. You know what I mean, you buy the single but you get an extra track, an interesting cover or at least an alternate take so when the album is out and you get it the single still has something interesting on it. Harris used to defend this approach in the past but things changed at the end of the Blaze area. :(

I like the b-side, Hallowed Be Thy Name. It's recorded live in the studio last year on radio for a program calles 'Legends', together with The Trooper and Run to the Hills. I like it. It's a kind of 're-recording'.

Who the hell needs another version of those songs - NOBODY.
