The nominees in the "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category are as follows:

ANTHRAX - "I'm Alive"
Track from: "Worship Music"
(Megaforce)

HALESTORM - "Love Bites (So Do I)"
Track from: "The Strange Case Of..."
(Atlantic)

IRON MAIDEN - "Blood Brothers"
Track from: "En Vivo!"
(Ume)

LAMB OF GOD - "Ghost Walking"
Track from: "Resolution"
(Epic)

MARILYN MANSON – "No Reflection"
Track from: "Born Villain"
(Cooking Vinyl)

MEGADETH - "Whose Life (Is It Anyways?)"
Track from: "TH1RT3EN"
(Roadrunner)

I know they've been there before and won, but it's still pretty sweet to see them in again! Go Maiden!

I hope they do win. But what sucks is that if they do win, they won't show them getting the award because they don't even show that award being won....do they? Last time I remember, they didn't. They would just mention it like "Oh hey, by the way, so and so won the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance category."

Lol I hope megadeth win the prize, only because they've been nominated like 13 times... Only if it's only because of their career in metal music.

I'm not sure if winning a metal award for one of your sweetest sounding songs is exactly one of the coolest things that can happen to a metal band.

When said song is appreciated both among the fans and by the band? I don't think they'll have a problem with it. And it's not exactly the most balladish song they've made, is it? Some that spring to mind: Strange World, Wasting Love, Journeyman ...

I can't imagine Blood Brothers winning this either, the others are a lot heavier. Although if the emphasis is on 'performance', then it's presented very well on En Vivo.

I don''t think "heavy" in itself is a criterium here. It's heavy metal, thus it competes in this category, and it's a bloody good performance of a song which the audience appreciates.

My post was in the light of my subjective opinion, namely that I find this song a but overrated, in such a way that other songs begin to stand in its shadow.

Why not give the award for 2 Minutes to Midnight? Best version I've ever heard.

Now, my last reply was aimed at Brigantium's post, where the heaviness was made to be an issue.

I don't know the other songs from the opening post but does anyone know if these are also some of the more softer/sweeter/commercially appealing category, compared to the majority of the work of these bands?

The other songs are heavier and packed with energy. I like all of them, actually, including Blood Brothers, but it's in a different vein to the rest in my opinion.

Surprise, surprise. It turns out Maiden didn't win their Grammy. It went to Halestorm. While I am happy for them because they are actually from my area, it still sucks Maiden didn't get it. Oh well, Grammy's suck anyway. :D
