And that on a (blue) monday!

The Abigail cover is pure art and deserves to win but Oceanborn comes very close. For the third it was own nomination bias but Savatage is really great too.

King Diamond - Abigail album rules but I've never been much of a fan of the artwork. Always finding it a tad too cartoony. Savatage wins this for me, with Ride the Lightning coming in second. Yes, the Rush album is just a big snowy owl and also a tad cartoony but it's a bold image, with the owl looking right at you like prey and the yellow eyes giving a nice mystical contrast to the blue image so it gets third place!

This one is cool too. The perfect back cover, the continuation (like it should be with every album art). Even the different colors used are spot on.
 
Am I the only one who thinks Oceanborn is kind of a bad cover? Like, I get the nostalgia aspect of it, but it feels like a hand drawn version of a modern Dream Theater clipart cover.

Shocked at the lack of response to Ride the Lightning. Metallica’s first four album covers are all iconic.

I think as far as 90's fantasy cover goes, it's captivating. Could have been better? No doubt. Best, nope, but it's at least interesting. The colors work perfectly.

Iconic sometimes doesn't mean that good. Definitely not for me.

I'll agree with this. Lady justice, tied in ropes, vandalized, sexualized etc....and all in plain white. Bold!

I can't seem to find much about the previous covers and who did them? Perhaps it was just a big firm thing. However I do like the Ride the Lightning one a lot!!

The best Metallica artist of all time is no doubt Pushead though. So many cool singles, EPs and shirt designs for the band. Particularly from the late 80s to the mid 90s.
