Adrian Guitar Technique...

For all of the guitar maestros out there, I've been picking up on a particular technique or sound, which I think it is more likely Adrian doing. But I cant seem to get the same sort of sound when playing these certain parts of songs, learning from tab as I'm 100% self taught, I find learning new techniques difficult.
I'll link a few Youtube times to emphasise what I'm talking about.

It sounds like a sort of scale climbing technique he's got going on, but he makes the notes so short and quick, I'm not good at explaining it, so I'll leave your ears to do the working. But I warn you, they are very quick segments of the solos. Any help on how he does this is highly appreciated.

I know what you're talking about but I'm not sure what you're asking for. Do you want to know what the notes are or are you asking what his picking style is? Usually for runs like this he palm mutes the lower strings and slowly lifts letting the notes ring at the end of the run.

Cheers, I was asking for what he actually does, sorry if I didn't make it clear. I'm guessing those must be very light palm mutes, better scratch up on those then!

My palm muting never has sounded like this so It should be interesting to see if I can get a similar sound.

I'm self taught too thanks to the internet. I play a lot of KISS and Maiden. Try searching for "Papastache Iron Maiden on guitar", or just "Papastache Iron Maiden on YouTube.
I've learned Run to the Hills, the Trooper, Waysted Years, Aces High, and Wrathchild from him. His name is actually Brett Papa.
Adrian uses finger hammer ons with his strumming hand finger while holding whatever string in the key he plays in. He will use the hammer technique to go up and down the scales as needed. He'll also incorporate some bends in there as well.... Good luck and have fun! If I can play Maiden , anyone can! I was intimidated at first trying to learn them because everything they do sounds so intricate, but it's very simple once you get the hang. Try watching him in concert too like the rock am ring shows where they actually focus on the members more and show them playing their solos than a Harris edited video!

He does indeed palm mute the lower strings as palm muting gives a stronger bass sound and seems to raise his palm for the top 3 strings because they wouldn't sound out enough when muted. It's largely a matter of playing with feel to get these ascending runs to sound right.
New techniques will come easily with enough practise. The more you listen and watch videos of Adrian or anyone else play guitar, the more you'll understand about what's going on and how a sound can be achieved.

Also, I'm not sure about the SIT songs (this definitely doesn't apply to Different World), but the Moonchild solo has a delay going that definitely affects the sound.

Probably affects the SiT songs a tad as well. Having listened to the guitar only version of Wasted Years (which is now gone from YouTube along with all the other X instrument only Maiden tracks o_O), I can say there is delay in the sound but a long one, I assume the Moonchild delay is short and therefore affects more, can't listen atm to check it.

The difference between Moonchild's delay and the others isn't so much the speed but the volume. In Moonchild, the volume of the delay is almost as high as the guitar itself. You can expect any song to have some delay in the guitar (along with some reverb) to beef up the sound, but it's usually hardly noticeable. In Moonchild it's very noticeable and almost acts as a second guitar, especially on the scale runs.

This is true with vocals too. Vocals are hardly ever recorded dry, but it's on SiT and SSOASS where you can really hear the reverb.

I'm just bumping this thread because I'm still having trouble with this!
Anyone who can show me how to do this dampening technique would be my saviour!
