A freaky subliminal message

Although the name Iron Maiden stems from the medieval torture device, I've always thought of the two words like this: Iron(an early metal or a type of metal, anyways it gets its point across as metal) Maiden(a beautiful woman, virgin, etc or in this case beautiful harmonies, a maiden singing music). Of course, that would be backwards, but I always thought of it as being something crude on the exterior(perhaps by the masses), but beautiful on the inside.

What do you people think?

I think you're wrong. Iron Maiden is really a tribute to Margaret Thatcher.

The original name of the band should have been "Sweet And Tender Little Girl With Large Loving Puppy Eyes That Make Your Heart Melt", but Steve thought it was a bit too long. I'd agree, the general public never really understood Maiden, but we sure as hell did. MTV Brazil once compiled a list of the most annoying fan bases and Maiden came up first. Any comments on that?
