I was listening to an online metal radio thing and when i heard the wicker man came on and then the chorus came and it went like "your time will come thy will be done" and at the end of the chorus it went like "your time will come don't turn don't run". I also heard it on VH1 when they were going through the 100 greatest artists of hard rock and maiden came on and it played part of the chorus. if anyone else has heard this or know where i can get a copy of the song it would be greatly appreciated. many thanks.

It was the promo version if my memory serves, I've heard it before and actually prefer it to the album version

Wasn't this the radio edit for the song?  I think it was available on one of the singles that was put out....

I heard "thy will be done" in a version of that song. I can't remember where I heard that version, but I know I did. Sounded quite religious, so I remember it as sounding pretty daring.

I would also like to know if anyone has heard the extended version of "Caught Somewhere In Time" (11 minutes and a bit!), the electric version of "Journeyman" and the different version of "Flash Of The Blade" - I think the "Journeyman" version might have been on the "No More Lies" EP and the other two on bootlegs, but I'm not sure. Any info greatly appreciated.

Yes it is. Just look at the Commentary! http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/?url=sing ... nk=singles
;)
This different version of "Flash Of The Blade" is sometimes referred to as a demo version and is a fake, it's simply the regular version with some noise added. There is a post dealing with this question somewhere on this board but I can't recall where.

I never heard about an extended version of caught somewhere in time...

Ha ha! Excellent! I shall give up worrying about it then!
Thanks for the info.

I can't remember where I read about the "Caugt SiT" version. May also be rubbish.....
On a similar note, I downloaded a version of "Alexander The Great" ages and ages ago that I re-listened to over the weekend and I can't work out if this is really a "live in the studio" sounding version, or if it is a cover done by another band. The vocals sound a bit like Bruce, but quite young. Not sure...

The only place where I heard about it was reading on this forum. Probably a rumor. If not, then someone: prove it.

the Caught Somewhere In Time Extended edition is just a cut-and-paste job. Someone took the (rather long) instrumental part and pasted it in a second time...
This "live in the studio" Alexander the Great is a cover taken from http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/?url=slavetothepower&lang=eng&link=tributes. And now, really, come on! This doesn't sound anything like Bruce, not even a young one...

Now I completely forgot to answer the main question: This Wicker Man version was only released on a US promo CD, and is known as "Radio version". There is actually two versions, the radio version and the radio edit (with a shortened solo). The drum track is also different from the one on the album!

Here are the covers of the promo (sorry, couldn't find better scans)

edit: If anyone wants to hear it, just contact me :)

I also have a copy of this. Got it pre-BNW release. I have always had a soft spot for this version of the song.
The high guitar parts during the chorus are also nearly absent, the bass drum and extra vocals really taking over.
I have been trying to find info everywhere about this single, and have finally found people mentioning it.

(First post!)

The lead part is actually missing completely in the first chorus. Which is weird, cause they obviously got rid of the extra chorus lines in favour for this melody, as this is the hook now... well, this version shows it could have been different.
