50th Anniversary Documentary Announcement

It actually felt weird to read you man Chins name the first time. Real Live One maybe. I was thinkin "oooh, what happened to Halfin? Is something wrong?!" Weird levels of fandom, I suppose. Like, I found Derek Riggs book a hard read. I assumed that they were all friends and in it together. Halfin and Riggs were Maiden people to me, as much as Murray and Harris. Kinda hard to have your childhood dreams obliterated

It's all well and good, I'm pretty sure half of my impression is from Halfin himself admitting he can be a bit difficult sometimes. It's understandable in the sense that he's a professional doing a job and doesn't have time for bands being cute and fucking around, but at the same time he tends to forget that said bands existing is the only reason he has subjects to photograph in the first place.
Yah, totally. A friend of mine was a gig photographer for a while and he said he got full of himself, thought he was important. It's an easy trap to fall into. Especially if you're at a high (coke fuelled) level

Yeah, it's
Is it just me or is it weird that they haven't said a thing about the documentary since the announcement? No title, no release date. Nothing. And it's supposed to be released in cinemas this fall. Isn't fall like.. now?
RIGHT, maybe they just postponed release date to next year? Maybe there are some problems with postproduction? I think the management should inform people anyway, so this is Rod :)

By around July I was starting to think the documentary won't be out in the fall as planned, now I am actually going to be surprised if it comes out at all this year. I assume the documentary is done, so my current theory is that they decided the movie would do better if it coincided with the band actually being on tour, so I'm guessing it will be released whenever they kick off their North American dates.

Who knows, probably in the Summer 2026. Weird decision, but you know it's Rod ...

Maybe it's not quite ready yet, that's why we didn't get a name and a date. We expect it to be longer than 2 hours, right.

Wouldn't it be better to release it this year, the year of the anniv. November or December, after next year's dates and the book? Band while on tour? Why? To ask them questions about it? More time for promotions?

The best times for new movie releases are either during the summer blockbuster season or the holiday season around christmas. So it might still be possible for a late december release!

I still think it will be November (the second half) this year.

Steve Harris did not like the first cut and is editing it himself…

I hope they are just late to announce it. Flight 666 was announced late as well. At least I didn’t know about it until it was in the movies, in April 2009?
