That could very well be true. Apart from that grating chorus, everything else about Mother of Mercy is pretty nice. Is the chorus so bad that it brings down everything else and warrants a place in this list? I think yes.

I voted for The Book of Souls. It may be unfair to compare a double album to a regular length album, but there are simply more highlights to choose from The Book of Souls than Fear of the Dark.

It's the combination of those great melodies, that great chorus and those great lyrics combined - the combination of different elements that individually alone in itself is great enough to be considered scalebreakers.

The 1998 remaster is unlistenable to and is what I went by when I used to explain why I didn't like the album. Since the 2015 remaster, I've warmed up to it a lot
